Description

Embrace the vibrancy of Cornish sunsets, the scent of flower-filled gardens and the warmth of flickering flames from the log burner at this luxury modern cottage. Snappers has a contemporary lounge/kitchen/diner with uninterrupted views across the North Cornish countryside with pastoral panoramas to stir the soul. It is one of the seven beautifully converted barns which now form the peaceful hamlet of Penrose Burden and if you wish to book the other cottages here, there is also Butterwell, Goosehill, The Linney, Troutstream and Otterbridge and Jingles. It's the perfect base to explore the North Cornwall coast with Port Isaac, Padstow, Rock, Boscastle and Polzeath all nearby and its central location makes both North and South coastlines easily accessible; the South with its long sandy beaches, historic ports, secluded creeks and the Eden Project, and the North with its dramatic cliffs, quiet coves, fantastic surfing, grand country houses and historic market towns. The open plan lounge/kitchen/diner offers guests a great place to relax, with a cosy log burner and a well equipped kitchen. You can also enjoy a welcome tray of a cream tea on arrival and Organic Trevarno guest toiletries in the bathroom.

There is a fabulous local pub nearby serving great food and perfect for a Sunday roast, a well stocked local shop and Post Office and access to walks over Bodmin Moor.  A short walk to the start of the Camel Trail for walking or cycling where you can find the fabulous 'Snail's Pace Café' and also close to local craft at Wenfordbridge Pottery. A country lane stroll away, you will also find the lovely St Tudy Inn. Cornwall's favourite attractions are all accessible - Eden, Bodmin and Wenford Railway, Lanhydrock House and Pencarrow House to name but a few.

Reviews

Snappers Cottage stands in an ideal location commanding spectacular views across the Camel Valley. It was cleaned to a very high standard and has everything we needed to make our stay perfect. I would highly recommend Penrose Burden Cottages and we hope to return.

Mr S,

As we were tourists from Australia, it is unlikely we will stay there again, but we will recommend it to friends and family.

Mr Victor N,

Our second visit, this time for 3 weeks. The owners are lovely and the cottage was perfect for 2 of us. We love, love, love the peace and quiet (and watching the lambs). Fabulous coastal walks, golf, scenery. A real tonic for the soul. Look forward to coming back some day.

Mr Paul S,

The perfect retreat. Marvellous aspect, evert detail (and more) has been thought of to make the cottage welcoming with lovely decor and fittings. The cream tea & goodies were delicious. Thank you both so much also for being helpful when needed.

Mr Philip W,

Absolutely fabulous. Cream tea was a lovely touch. The views are just wonderful. We will definitely be back. Aslo the weather was perfect. Thank you.

Past Customer,

Everything was perfect easy to book and the destination lovely.

Mr Philip W,

We expected 100% cotton sheets as these should be standard in any accommodation and particularly with the price charged. The sheets provided resulted in poor sleep quality. The other nuisance was the neighbours dog who was allowed to roam free (& into the unsecured seating area) which meant we couldn’t relax on the front seating area. Yet guests are banned from even walking on the neighbours drive to access the main road which would have been helpful. Otherwise we had a really lovely stay.

Mrs Melina G,

Location

If ever there was a place to fully appreciate the stark beauty of the Cornish landscape, Bodmin Moor has to be it.  With endless sweeping vistas in every direction, tumbled outcrops of granite, and inviting paths and tracks to explore, this area of Cornwall is a walker's paradise.  The famous Jamaica Inn is sited here, with all its literary and historical associations.  With plenty of sheep and moorland ponies wandering freely (be sure to keep your dog under control!) you can almost imagine you have been transported back to those bygone days.  More recently, of course, the moor was used extensively for filming on the new adaptation of Poldark.  When the dashing Mr Poldark gallops across your screen, you may well be seeing the scenery of the moor in the background. A large part of the moor has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.  This region also has its fair share of Arthurian legends, another facet which lends a mysterious air to the landscape, and an extra depth to Cornwall's rich and varied history, and of course who can forget the rumours of the Beast of Bodmin Moor? The many other attractions, including the National Trust's Lanhydrock House, the verdant and flourishing Tamar Valley, historic sites such as castles, the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, and plenty of evidence of Cornwall's mining legacy, make this area a must-see.
