Description

Embrace the vibrancy of Cornish sunsets, the scent of flower-filled gardens and the warmth of flickering flames from the log burner at this luxury modern cottage for 2.  Jingles boasts a dual aspect bedroom with a luxurious bed, a contemporary lounge/kitchen/diner and uninterrupted views across the North Cornish countryside with pastoral panoramas to stir the soul.  It is one of 7 beautifully converted barns which now form the peaceful hamlet of Penrose Burden and if you wish to book the other cottages here, there is also The Linney, GoosehillButterwell, Troutstream and Otterbridge and Snappers. It's the perfect base to explore the North Cornwall coast with Port Isaac, Padstow, Rock, Boscastle and Polzeath all nearby and its central location makes both North and South coastlines easily accessible; the South with its long sandy beaches, historic ports, secluded creeks and the Eden Project, and the North with its dramatic cliffs, quiet coves, grand country houses and historic market towns.  The open plan lounge/kitchen/diner offers guests a great place to relax, with a cosy log burner and a well equipped kitchen. You can also enjoy a welcome tray of a cream tea on arrival and Organic Trevarno guest toiletries in the bathroom.

There is a fabulous local pub nearby serving great food and perfect for a Sunday roast, a well stocked local shop and Post Office and access to walks over Bodmin Moor.  A short walk to the start of the Camel Trail for walking or cycling where you can find the fabulous 'Snail's Pace Café' and also close to local craft at Wenfordbridge Pottery. A country lane stroll away, you will also find the lovely St Tudy Inn. Reviews

Second visit to Penrose Burden. The owners are great, the cottages are immaculate and the views are stunning.

Mrs C,

Jingles is a lovely little cottage with a secure garden (we have a Vizsla so quite a large dog) and is very pet friendly. The hosts Ian and Jane are very helpful and gave us excellent advice on things to do. You're only half an hour (ish) from Port Isaac yet the cottage is nestled in the countryside with amazing views. The cottage had everything we needed and more. We couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Mrs C,

Everything was perfect as always. Fantastic weather, couldn't have asked for more.

Past Customer,

Peaceful and clean property with all you need, internet signal not the best but small detail.

Mrs Sharon M,

Stunning views, beautiful home, I would change the sofa, it was a little too small. The walk to the pub said 1 mile, no mention of the very steep gradient. It was more like 2 miles. All said we have enjoyed the week.

Mr Anthony H,

Beautiful cottage, couldn’t fault anything really the views from the cottage were spectacular, beautiful scenery, just a couple of things not enough bath towels and hand towels , and also Loo Roll , but other than that , everything catered for . Very clean every essential that you would need .

Location

If ever there was a place to fully appreciate the stark beauty of the Cornish landscape, Bodmin Moor has to be it.  With endless sweeping vistas in every direction, tumbled outcrops of granite, and inviting paths and tracks to explore, this area of Cornwall is a walker's paradise.  The famous Jamaica Inn is sited here, with all its literary and historical associations.  With plenty of sheep and moorland ponies wandering freely (be sure to keep your dog under control!) you can almost imagine you have been transported back to those bygone days.  More recently, of course, the moor was used extensively for filming on the new adaptation of Poldark.  When the dashing Mr Poldark gallops across your screen, you may well be seeing the scenery of the moor in the background. A large part of the moor has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.  This region also has its fair share of Arthurian legends, another facet which lends a mysterious air to the landscape, and an extra depth to Cornwall's rich and varied history, and of course who can forget the rumours of the Beast of Bodmin Moor? The many other attractions, including the National Trust's Lanhydrock House, the verdant and flourishing Tamar Valley, historic sites such as castles, the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, and plenty of evidence of Cornwall's mining legacy, make this area a must-see.
