Description

The village of Troon, which lies 6 miles inland from the popular coastal town of Portreath, is situated in an area rich in history and whether you are a walker or cyclist, the locality offers a unique opportunity to explore an area rich in mining heritage with a large number of carefully conserved mine sites dotted across the landscape. Close by is the Great Flat Lode, which is one of Cornwall's Mineral Tramway Trails, and which circles the historic hilltop site of Carn Brae. Climb to the top and on a fine day you can see panoramic views across to both the north and south coasts of Cornwall.

Chi Lowen is a fine example of a traditional granite-built miner's cottage which has been beautifully modernised and which provides a very high standard of accommodation. With local facilities on your doorstep, plenty of parking and easy access to the county town of Truro and the north and south coasts, the village is perfectly located for exploring Cornwall. St Ives is just a 30 minute drive, alternatively catch the train from the park and ride at Lelant Saltings and take the scenic branchline and marvel at the spectacular views from the train window as the line sweeps along the coast past the golden sands of Carbis Bay. Then head for the beach, explore the harbour or wander the shops and art galleries.
