Description

The Byre offers the most wonderful place to take your family for that memorable Cornish holiday. This beautiful and spacious stone barn conversion will meet all your expectations without effort and will fast become a regular holiday base for many. It is tucked away down a leafy lane in the tranquil River Camel Valley intertwining with the famous Camel Trail.

The Byre has an open plan interior with exposed beams upstairs. The underfloor heating and woodburner will ensure visitors to The Byre are warm whatever the weather. Although there are extensive grounds to roam, there is also an enclosed courtyard garden exclusively for The Byre.

The gorgeous barn is ideally located for exploring the whole of Cornwall being only a 10-15-minute drive from the A30 so a trip to Tate St Ives is only an hour away, the Eden Project about 25 minutes and it's only a 20-minute drive to Padstow and the North Coast beaches. You are well placed to explore the rest of Cornwall and discover those special hidden places that have drawn so many to our county over the years.

Bringing bikes or hiring them locally is highly recommended as The Byre is situated alongside the top end of the Camel Trail, which offers 18 miles of off road walking and cycling. You can cycle through the old market town of Wadebridge and on to Padstow and the Camel estuary one way or inland to The Snail Pace cafe found at Wenford Bridge on Bodmin Moor. The Byre provides a secure building for storing bikes and surfboards, etc.

The grounds also include a stretch of the River Camel that is accessible to guests who can fish on the private land of The Dairy (please note that a Rod Licence for fishing needs to be purchased).

The tranquil setting of The Byre is the perfect stop to relax and chill out after a busy day. So whether your perfect holiday consists of participating in a range of activities, sightseeing or a relaxing break; then The Byre is the place for you!

The Byre and its sister barns The Hayloft and The Stable make up The Dairy Barns. They have been lovingly restored to provide luxury accommodation, full of character and charm. Though totally detached and independent from each other, they can be booked together to make the perfect venue for family get-togethers and celebrations.

Location

After the open landscapes and far-reaching vistas of much of the North Coast, visiting Dunmere and nearby Cardinham will make you feel you have been transported to the kind of serene landscape that comes straight from the pages of a Tolkien novel. It's not only beautiful scenery you'll find in this area. There is plenty to do here, and with a variety of activities, you will be sure to find something to suit everyone. You can get easy access to the Camel Trail, and there are also cycle trails at Cardinham Woods (some of which are suitable for buggies as well, so everyone can enjoy them). One of the best ways to take in the scenery of the local area (forest and moorland alike) is on horseback.  Hallagenna Riding offer moorland treks, pub rides, and for experienced riders, the Poldark Trail and Jamaica Inn Trail. If you prefer a more relaxing break, you could visit The Borough Arms pub for a pint, or take a tour of the Camel Valley Vineyard, where you can sip a glass of wine grown from Cornish grapes on their terrace overlooking the vineyards and surrounding countryside. Nearby there is also Bodmin Gaol, an 18th Century prison where you can look round the museum and (if you're feeling brave!)  participate in a Ghost Walk.
