Description

The Aviaries is a traditional character cottage tucked away on a quiet 'no through' country lane, close to the heart of the small, peaceful, rural village of St Teath and offers a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. There is plenty to do and see nearby - If it's a day at the beach building sand castles and surfing you're after, the beautiful beach of Trebarwith Strand is about 3 miles away and Polzeath a 20 minute away and Daymer Bay is just a little further around the coast.  Small coastal villages such as Port Isaac, Port Quin, Port Gaverne and Boscastle are waiting to be explored or you can immerse yourself in the legend of King Arthur at Tintagel.  Away from the coast, countryside walks can be enjoyed from the village and the wide and wild expanses of Bodmin Moor are a short drive away - dotted around the edge of the moor you will find several villages, most of them with pubs offering a warm welcome and good food.  Exploring further afield, the Eden project is about 40 minutes' drive and there are several historic houses within easy reach. After a busy day, relax in the rear terraced and secluded outdoor space before heading just down the road to the local pub for food and drink or, in the cooler months, why not light the fire and enjoy a cosy night in?  Apart from the pub, St Teath also boasts a lovely local café and a post office, so all in all it's a great base for your holiday.

Reviews

It was perfect, well equipped kitchen, a real home from home in a lovely location. Comfortable and very clean. Everything was thought of, a welcome pack too. Loved hearing the church bells ringing on Sunday morning.

Mr W,

Tha Aviaries is a lovely old cottage in St.Teath village. Well positioned on a quiet road and close to the village pub where the food is first class. Only about 20 minutes to Port Issac and the superb beach at Polzeath. Wadebridge for shopping and the supermarkets. There is no village shop but the cafe does really great food and cakes. There is parking for two cars off road but occasionally people park inconsiderately opposite maling it a bit tricky to use the parking space. Overall though it's a great place for a relaxing Cornish break.

Mr W,

Outstanding property. Spotless clean. Very well equipped with everything in it that is needed for a self catering cottage. Lovely location, nice and peaceful and tucked away off the main road. Fantastic off road parking and a rear garden that is perfect for a BBQ when the weather is good.

Mr G,

We have stayed here before so we knew what it would be like and it suited us.

Mrs Louise F,

Good quiet location with good off road parking in nice village. Enjoyed our stay there with our oldest grandaughter.

Mr C,

My husband and me have had a real wonderful stay at the Aviaries. A wonderful Cornish house, well equipped, very clean and tidy with a lot of little extras making our stay very comfortable. Were also happy for the adjacent parking place. Service via Original Cottages is great as well. Consequently, we can only give highest score. We definitely like to come back again.

Mrs Petra P,

I have rented many holiday cottages over the years, but The Aviaries is by far the best in a long time. Spotlessly clean in a very good location for day trips out and within walking distance of a very good local pub. So well equipped, that nothing I have at home could not be found in the cupboards. A very quiet and peaceful location, the most noticeable noise was constant bird song. We will be going back, as soon as we can find suitable dates when it is not already booked. Our advice; book it, you'll love it!

Sir C,

Wonderful property. Well equipped and in a great location. Loved our time there.

Mrs C,

Perfection, could not have been any better, wouldn’t change a single thing, will be booking a return visit shortly

Mr T,

The Aviaries was a charming cottage -very clean and immaculately presented on arrival and well equipped with all that was required for a short break . It was ideally located to explore North Cornwall and the local pub was very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely use again.

Mr L,

Well organized from a contact point of view by yourselves and a clean well presented property

Mr Philip R,

Location

Surrounded by rolling countryside, St Teath is a picturesque village tucked away down quiet country lanes, yet within easy reach of many of the better-known towns and villages of North Cornwall, including Rock, Polzeath, Port Gaverne and Port Isaac. Trebarwith Strand is less than 4 miles and it's only a 20 minute drive to Polzeath. The village has a lovely pub, the White Hart Inn, and a Post Office and village stores providing all your basic needs. Nearby, there is also Bowood Park Hotel and Golf Course, where you can follow up a round of golf with a meal in their restaurant. If you think you recognise Port Isaac, it may be because you know it better as Portwenn, the home of TV's Doc Martin; much of the filming for the series takes place here and in the surrounding area. The village has access to many wonderful walking routes, providing plenty of opportunities to explore the varied landscape of the local area. There is lots of wildlife to be found in many areas of Cornwall; birdlife is prolific, and you may also see larger mammals such as otters or badgers if you're very lucky! There are also plenty of wild flowers crowding the verges and hedgerows, creating an idyllic scene on your countryside rambles, while bees and butterflies abound, making for a truly relaxing and tranquil break.
