Description

Situated above the town Gull Rock provides enticing glimpses of the Camel Estuary, so you'll be eager to set out and explore as soon as possible.  It's only a five minute walk down to the harbour  (allow a bit extra time for the return journey) where you will find narrow streets to explore, eateries to suit every taste and a variety of shops. The harbour is also the starting point for a host of activities including pleasure and fishing boats trips, walking or cycling the Camel Trail alongside the estuary to Wadebridge and beyond, striking out along the South West Coast Path or visiting the sandy town beaches.  A short car journey widens your choice of beaches, most of which will keep keen rock poolers as well as sand castle builders happy and of course provide plenty of surfing opportunities.  Within a 40 minute car journey you could be at the renowned Eden Project, enjoying the parkland and house at Lanhydrock or testing your biking skills on the trails at Cardinham Woods - there is so much to see and do.  At the end of your day out, your recently modernised and refurbished yet cosy holiday cottage awaits, the rear decked area provides the perfect place to relax and plan tomorrow's adventures.

Location

Padstow is arguably now one of the best-known of Cornwall's holiday destinations- a working harbour still retaining the character of the fishing industry while also managing to reinvent itself as a modern holiday destination. Padstow has so much to offer the discerning holiday maker, with several beaches along the Camel Estuary, where you can also have a go at a range of water sports such as sailing and windsurfing, as well as a variety of boat trips such as fishing excursions, speedboat rides, sea-life safaris and the ever popular Jubilee Queen. You can indulge your passion for food at an excellent selection of restaurants in the town, which is now the base for a number of celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth.  If you're looking for more active pursuits, you can cycle the Camel Trail, the route of the old railway line running between Padstow and Bodmin.  If walking is more your thing, there are many walking trails and routes waiting to be discovered, and if you're bringing a dog, there are plenty of dog-friendly places to explore. Gaining popularity in recent years is the Padstow Christmas Festival, now spread over four days, with cookery demonstrations, food and craft market, and entertainment.
