Description

Trenarlett Farm is in a wonderfully tranquil spot in the heart of rural Cornwall.  Dickins Cottage was recently converted from a cattle barn into luxury accommodation, top quality with 'eco' credentials to boot.  Beautifully restored and appointed it is set on the sunny side of the valley above the River Camel (access for fishing may be available by arrangement).  Extremely spacious and well equipped, with large comfortable beds and sofas, underfloor heating and bedroom suites at each end, Dickins' has everything you need for a relaxing break, be it with family or friends.  Independent from the farm and each other, a combination of cottages could be booked together for larger parties. The surrounding villages offer a range of friendly pubs serving food and wildlife lovers, birdwatchers, keen walkers and cyclists will be in their element with the wilds of Bodmin Moor and the famous Camel Trail practically on the doorstep. Those feeling really energetic can reach Padstow along the Trail, so bringing bikes is definitely worth it (but they can be hired locally). Just 10 minutes' drive from the A30 and 5 from the Atlantic Highway (A39) you are well placed to enjoy the whole county. The coast path, numerous beaches, Padstow, Port Isaac, Tintagel, Boscastle, Polzeath, Eden and much more are all there waiting to be explored. Reviews

Lovely clean and comfortable cottage.

Mrs S,

Overall excellent Location is amazing, quiet, beautiful views and a stunning place in the countryside The cottage is very well equipped, clean and really comfortable. We (and our furry companions) especially loved the garden. It was big and secure and not overlooked. On top of all that we didn’t feel overcharged. It was a fair price for a lovely holiday This property is a real gem, we can’t wait to return

Mrs Kerry S,

I had such a wonderful week. Sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you. The host was lovely. The cottage was outstanding. Actually forgot how narrow the lanes were as I hadn’t been to Cornwall for a long time! Haha not for the faint hearted at times! I cannot wait to rebook.

Miss Kelly W,

We really enjoyed our stay at Dickins Cottage and the property was immaculate from top to bottom and the restoration carried out thoughtfully and to a high standard, it lacked nothing and having a fully enclosed space for our 3 dogs allowed them to roam freely and relax (us too). The owner, Sophy was very welcoming and checked to make sure we were happy with everything. We are looking forward to planning our next stay at Dickins Cottage.

Mr P,

Very peaceful and relaxing cottage. Great sized rooms, extremely comfortable beds. Lovely enclosed garden for the four legged friends. Owners very helpful and contactable when required. Would absolutely recommend.

Mr F,

Location

If ever there was a place to fully appreciate the stark beauty of the Cornish landscape, Bodmin Moor has to be it.  With endless sweeping vistas in every direction, tumbled outcrops of granite, and inviting paths and tracks to explore, this area of Cornwall is a walker's paradise.  The famous Jamaica Inn is sited here, with all its literary and historical associations.  With plenty of sheep and moorland ponies wandering freely (be sure to keep your dog under control!) you can almost imagine you have been transported back to those bygone days.  More recently, of course, the moor was used extensively for filming on the new adaptation of Poldark.  When the dashing Mr Poldark gallops across your screen, you may well be seeing the scenery of the moor in the background. A large part of the moor has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.  This region also has its fair share of Arthurian legends, another facet which lends a mysterious air to the landscape, and an extra depth to Cornwall's rich and varied history, and of course who can forget the rumours of the Beast of Bodmin Moor? The many other attractions, including the National Trust's Lanhydrock House, the verdant and flourishing Tamar Valley, historic sites such as castles, the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, and plenty of evidence of Cornwall's mining legacy, make this area a must-see.
