Description

This property has been converted from part of the 1876 grade II listed building which was once the school for the town. The conversion has been sympathetically achieved to retain much of the original stone walls, gothic arched windows and vaulted ceilings, which give the building its character. Primrose House is ideally located just a two minute walk from the harbour and Padstow's many recommended restaurants. The town is now familiar to many from Rick Stein's seafood cookery programmes, but was a well-kept secret for many years before. The historic fishing port remains largely unspoilt and the townspeople like to keep it that way. Within easy striking distance are magnificent walks along the coastal footpaths and just a few miles down the coast are some of the finest beaches in Cornwall; a number absolutely ideal for surfing the rolling Atlantic breakers. There are championship golf links at Trevose and St. Enodoc; a passenger ferry and water taxi runs across the estuary to Rock. The route of the old railway track to Bodmin is now a popular trail for cyclists and walkers and offers some wonderful scenery along the way.

Reviews

A fantastic place to stay, plenty of living space for 5 adults. The location is superb, close to the harbour with many nice pubs and restaurants, beautiful walks around the headland and along the Camel Trail. Short hop away from Rock via the ferry. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Mr L,

We had an incredible week at Primrose House, the location is perfect and the house itself is beautiful. I almost don’t want to recommend it through fear we’ll never be able to book again!

Miss A,

We have come to Primrose House several times. It suits our family perfectly with different generations having sufficient space and amenities. Parking is a huge bonus too.

Mrs M,

Super location and very comfortable for 8

Mr F,

Primrose House is in a fantastic location- a 5 minute walk into town and the harbour, perfect as a base to explore Padstow and the North Coast. It's a spacious property in lovely surroundings with everything you would need over a week stay.

Mrs P,

Location

Padstow is arguably now one of the best-known of Cornwall's holiday destinations - a working harbour still retaining the character of the fishing industry while also managing to reinvent itself as a modern holiday destination. Padstow has so much to offer the discerning holiday maker, with several beaches along the Camel Estuary, where you can also have a go at a range of water sports such as sailing and windsurfing, as well as a variety of boat trips such as fishing excursions, speedboat rides, sea-life safaris and the ever popular Jubilee Queen. You can indulge your passion for food at an excellent selection of restaurants in the town, which is now the base for a number of celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth.  If you're looking for more active pursuits, you can cycle the Camel Trail, the route of the old railway line running between Padstow and Bodmin.  If walking is more your thing, there are many walking trails and routes waiting to be discovered, and if you're bringing a dog, there are plenty of dog-friendly places to explore. Gaining popularity in recent years is the Padstow Christmas Festival, now spread over four days, with cookery demonstrations, food and craft market, and entertainment.
