Description

Dairy Cottage, and its neighbouring property Granary Cottage, is situated on the outskirts of Exmoor National Park near a village called Swimbridge and is surrounded by stunning countryside.

Sleeping four people, this characterful cottage has exposed stone work and beamed ceilings, a cosy living room and a private lawned garden with a river border. The nearest pub is just 300 yards away and there are plenty of pathways and bridleways running near the cottage. The large living room has plenty of seating around the fireplace for the whole group.  The open-plan kitchen/diner has a small dining table and well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms – a Twin and a Double with an en-suite shower room. There is a modern family bathroom for the occupants of the Twin room.

Outside, the garden is about 20 yards away from the cottage and has a fence and river border. Swimbridge is about four miles south-east of Barnstaple and twinned with the town of St. Honorine Du Fay in Normandy, France. It the home of the Rev. John “Jack” Russell who developed the Jack Russell terrier and is noted for its church - The Church of St. James -  which has been described as a “treasure house” due to its fine carvings and memorials.

Nearby Barnstaple is well worth a visit - it is a charming place that comfortably blends a handsome past with an energetic, present-day buzz. It has a mix of cutting-edge retail outlets, long-established family owned stores and little boutiques. The pannier market hosts local food producers interspersed with dozens of cafes. At weekends, Barnstaple makes wandering the streets a distinct pleasure, with performers and musicians out to entertain.

Reviews

We had a wonderful week at Dairy Cottage. The cream tea was a super jesture on arrival and a Christmas tree was also put up in the living room for the build up to Christmas. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. We had everything we needed for a great getaway. Thank you so much.

Mrs D,

Excellent location in lovely village with parking outside the door and a good pub within walking distance- what more could you want! The secret garden was a delight, and the owner very helpful and friendly.

Mrs C,

This was possibly the best holiday cottage we've stayed in, and we've stayed in a lot. It was spacious, very well-equipped, easy to find and quiet. Sadly the weather was pants, so we didn't get to use the garden, but it would be a lovely place to sit with a glass of something on a warm evening.

Ms M,

The cottage was presented beautifully, the equipment was of high standard, you could cook a 3 course meal or make a sandwich as there was plenty of good decent utensils The cottage was spacious and the additional garden was lovely The location was private and parking was not an issue Owners introduced them selves which was very nice Would recommend this property

Mr D,

Comfortable and well-equipped cottage with many special touches. The owners were very helpful and communication was excellent before our stay. Great location for exploring this area of North Devon.
