Description

Mayflower cottage is perfect for your seaside escape at any time of the year.  This beautifully presented and well equipped holiday cottage comes with a pretty south-facing garden and private parking, much sought after in Aldeburgh.

This delightful holiday cottage is situated on Church Farm, an award winning development at the northern end of Aldeburgh, one of the most picturesque seaside towns along the Suffolk coast.

The boutiques, cafes and shops of Aldeburgh High Street are just a 7-minute walk away from Mayflower Cottage, and you certainly won't need the car for a daytrip to Thorpeness, just take a stroll along the beach (which is just 5-minutes away on foot), admiring 'The Scallop', an iconic sculpture by Maggi Hambling, dedicated to local composer Benjamin Britten, along the way.

The lounge at Mayflower Cottage is a warm and inviting room, with soft colours and character wood burner (ideal for those cosy winter nights in front of the fire), whilst the dining room which adjoins the tasteful shaker-style kitchen has double patio doors leading to a pretty south-facing garden, perfect for summer evenings. There's even a BBQ provided for your use.

Upstairs are three well-appointed bedrooms; a double (with super-king size bed), a twin (two single beds) and a single, each with a coastal theme, plus a spacious family bathroom –perfect for a seaside holiday in Suffolk. Shop: 500 yards Pub: 500 yards.

Why we Love This Property
Mayflower Cottage has been furnished with love and care by its owners and their attention to detail is evident throughout.  Games, binoculars, and even crabbing nets are provided for guests to use and are a really lovely touch to this charming holiday cottage.

Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends.

Reviews

This is an amazing cottage - such love and care put into it. Our 2nd time here....Thank you for the generous welcome pack and flowers. We have had a wonderful week and good weather too!

Previous c,

Wonderful as always. Our 3rd visit to this lovely cottage. We've said it all before so I'll just say thank you and we're looking forward to our 4th visit.

Previous c,

What a lovely spot! Mayflower Cottage is very well appointed and we had a lovely visit. No complaints whatsoever. We enjoyed our visit with local family and things could not have been much better. We visit annually from Canada and plan to stay here again. Thank you for the welcome basket of goodies, and such a comfortable stay after a long trip.

The T,

Lovely cottage, well equipped and spotless. Thank you for the welcome pack - a lovely touch.

Jonathan & A,

Mayflower Cottage is well located, near to the beach & the town & has parking available. It is very well presented and beautifully clean. The garden is an added bonus.

Mrs S,

Thank you for the welcome pack. We love Mayflower Cottage. It's proximity to the seafront is great. Aldeburgh is a fantastic place to be based. We've walked to Thorpeness and the Martello Towers. Beyond Aldeburgh we've enjoyed Southwold, Framingham and the Orford Ness reserve. We took the little boats out and had a sail on the boating pond next to the Moot Hall. A fantastic break. Thanks.

Mark & K,

Another wonderful visit to this cottage. Everything was perfectly suited to our needs; it now feels like a second home away from home. Our family made many very precious memories.

The C,

A very comfortable and well appointed cottage. Enjoyed our stay very much. In such an excellent location. Our 'welcome pack' was very much appreciated.

Terry and S,

Have had a great time here. Mayflower Cottage has been really homely. We have walked for miles and enjoyed splendid weather. Everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. Big Thank You.

J & J,

Loved it

Mr Austyn R,

We were delighted with Mayflower Cottage as soon as we opened the door. Warm, cosy and very well equipped plus a basket of bonus treats. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Valerie & N,

Our first stay at this lovely cottage. Very well equipped and the welcome pack is a lovely addition - thank you! We have only travelled from Norfolk but it felt like we were properly away, despite only being from the next county. Everything is easily accessible and we had lovely walks at Minsmere, North Warren, Snape to Iken, Southwold and early morning runs along the beach were bracing!

The Whitmore f,

19th - 26th May 2023 Our first stay at Mayflower Cottage, many thanks. Lovely home, very well equipped, comfortable and appreciated the 'Welcome Pack'. Weather much better than we thought and enjoyed touring around. Jane & Neil - Stowbridge

Past Customer,

12th - 19th May 2023 Delighted with clean, well equipped Mayflower Cottage and thanks for the generous 'Welcome Pack'. We've had a lovely holiday exploring Suffolk and been lucky with the weather. John & Carolyn

Past Customer,

28th April - 5th May 2023 Our second time staying at Mayflower Cottage, as lovely as before! Ate in The Lighthouse restaurant - just brilliant food & service, also ate in The Mill Inn at the bottom of the hill - lovely pub grub. Visited local areas including Walberswick & Dunwich, both well worth the visit. Also lovely walk round Sutton Hoo. Look forward to coming back to Suffolk soon. Deb & Ray

Past Customer,

5th -12th May 2023 Wonderful time in a new (to us!) part of England....Many thanks for the 'goodies'- much appreciated. Mayflower Cottage is lovely, very clean and well equipped. Excellent parking a bonus. Lots of places to eat, especially Regatta & Lighthouse. We also used Ash Smokehouse a lot - fantastic seafood. Noon pies were to die for! Anne & Frank

Past Customer,

Mayflower Cottage is a beautiful house located less than 10 minute walk from Aldeburgh famous Clam sculpture. It is also just a short stroll to the supermarket to pick up supplies, or into the High Street for the range of lovely shops & restaurants. The house is welcoming with a very well equipped kitchen, the owner has thought of everything that a holidaymaker would need for their stay. Lounge has an open fire & there is a compact garden to the rear. We had a lovely week staying at Mayflower Cottage and look forward to going back.

Mrs J,

Second time staying in Mayflower Cottage - very happy with the facilities again. Aldeburgh & surrounding area continues to be a fantastic destination.

Past Customer,

Have had a lovely time here. Everything we needed was here. The welcome goodies and flowers were much appreciated. The house is very comfortable and quiet and we wished that we could have stayed longer. Hope to stay with you again.

Past Customer,

Mayflower Cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. The booking process was easy. We were pleased with the location of the property as it gave us the opportunity to discover another side of Aldeburgh which we have been visiting for a number of years. The welcome pack and flowers were very much appreciated and we would have no hesitation in booking this property again. We are disappointed that despite the covid pandemic being over, there is still the requirement to vacate a property very early and strip beds before departure. We feel that this requirement needs to be reviewed.

Mr David K,

Lovely restful home! Easy access to beach/shops/restaurants. Thanks for the many 'treats' - all eaten & appreciated! Suffolk is lovely - so much to see - we managed to get around to lots of it - Southwold, Orford, Walberswick, Sutton Hoo etc - all lovely! Hopefully we'll be back! (The 'large' bed is so comfy - BLISS!) Will recommend!

Past Customer,

Such a treat to stay here! Thank you for the wonderful welcome hamper and the flowers, all very much appreciated. Only one day of rain but even that did not dampen our enthusiasm for Suffolk. Managed to visit the usual haunts and enjoyed some really good meals as usual. Looking forward to next year already!

Past Customer,

Our fifth or sixth stay in Aldeburgh but first time in Mayflower Cottage. Very impressed with the cottage - clean, comfortable and just right for access to both town and beach.....Thank you for a lovely stay.

The C,

Our first stay at Mayflower Cottage but hopefully not the last. Beautifully arranged and well situated. We enjoyed walking to Thorpeness and Snape Maltings. Aldeburgh itself is a joy to explore. Thank you for the welcome basket of treats!

Past Customer,

Many thanks for our lovely stay here at Mayflower Cottage, our first time holidaying in Suffolk. As well as enjoying Aldeburgh including a lovely meal at the 'Regatta' one night, we have visited other lovely places such as Southwold, Walberswick and Snape. Thank you kindly for the lovely flowers and basket of goodies which were very much appreciated.
