Reviews

Beautiful and lovely house in lovely Looe. Really recommendable for a stay without car because of train and bus station nearby the acommodation.

Mrs Veronika S,

Well, where do we start? What a lovely week we have had! We haven't even been in the car. Proximity to the station and buses has been fab. Daisy's has been a highlight! We went to sea in a boat and spotted seals. mostly we have enjoyed the peaceful location and pretty Looe. Alvaston is really lovely - spacious and everything we hoped for. Thank you - we hope to come back!

Andy & C,

Another lovely week at Alvaston! We had fish & chips from the coddy shack as soon as we arrived on Saturday - delicous! We have had a fab week relaxing, going to the beach each day and enjoying many pasties and ice creams. One night we had pizza from La Bocca and ate it on the terrace - it was so nice! We will be sad to leave once again but will hopefully be taking the weather home with us. Thank you for having us.

Susanna & A,

Great holiday, enhanced by Keiths comprehensive directions and helpful hints. Weather glorious as is Looe, Thank you.

Chillari Family,

Thank you very much for a lovely weeks holiday here in Looe. We enjoyed ourselves very much. Your house is very comfortable and well equipped and we especially loved the scenic views.

Gale Family,

A really lovely place to stay - with lovely views and easy access to the town. It has been great enjoying the quay, beach and the woods too. Thank you for giving us the highchair when requested. Our children enjoyed the space to play and the chance to buy treats from local shops. A delightful retreat.

Pecover Family,

Lovely accommodation Alvaston. We have stayed in Looe many times, this is the best place we have stayed in. We had a fantastic new year in fancy dress and thank you Looe for putting on the fireworks. We would return to this house.

Mr Jaimie B,

Great place! Very warm and a good spot in town. 1st time we have stayed and definitely would return.

Hayden & S,

Had a lovely time in Alvaston, the cottage is fully equipped to suit all ages, location is a gem! January weather was kind to us! Thank you Keith & Caroline for letting us stay.

Lorraine & R,

Alvaston is a perfect property for a family holiday in Looe. As described, there are lots of steps (Looe is on a hill!) so probably not ideal for the very young or very old, but for us (family of 4 with 13 year old and 9 year old kids) it was spot on - close enough to Looe for really easy access, far enough out to be wonderfully peaceful. The house has everything you need for a great stay, with beautiful views over the river and into town. We can’t wait to stay in Alvaston again!

mrs N,

Location

The town of Looe has charming narrow streets leading down to a picturesque harbour, and is split into East and West Looe by the river that runs through it, and on down to the beach.  Looe's sandy beach has a little cafe where you can linger over a cup of coffee while people-watching or admiring the view. There are a number of lovely cafes, as well as restaurants and pubs to choose from, making this a great destination for the foodies among you. You will have the opportunity to buy freshly-caught fish from the market on the quay, or if you fancy it, go out on a fishing trip to have a go at catching your own! If you don't fancy fishing, a good alternative boat trip is to Looe Island, where you can find some lovely examples of rare plants, and spot plenty of wildlife, including grey seals and seabirds.  Looe Marine Conservation Group can give you more information about the island and its wildlife. Looe is said to be a wonderful place to enjoy the New Year festivities, a time when many happy party-goers in fancy dress descend upon the town to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a magnificent display of fireworks.
