Description

The Hop House is a delightful stone-faced cottage with timber windows and a good-sized garden with lawn, patio and outside furniture. It sits in the delightful countryside hamlet of Darracott and is a wonderful couples retreat. The spacious south facing garden accessed through idyllic stable doors is an ideal retreat to relax. There are countless countryside walks including routes to Saunton, Croyde and the breathtaking North Devon coastal path. There are four steps up from the light and airy kitchen to the attractive living room with relaxing seating and wood burner. Both rooms have stylish cream flagstone flooring. The sofa converts to a bed if needed, which offers an additional sleeping option. Solid oak stairs take you up to a double bedroom with gorgeous views served by a modern and stylish shower room.

Just a short half mile walk away is the hamlet of Georgeham, where there is a village shop and post office together with a traditional 17th century pub, which serves excellent food and a wide selection of beers. The Hop House is a perfect base for exploring North Devon. The nearest beach is at Croyde, a couple of miles down the road. Croyde's beach is one of North Devon’s most beautiful - a horse shoe bay of golden sand backed by dunes and lapped by the surf of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s popular all year round for surfing and the RNLI are there from May until September, throughout the Easter weekend plus October half term. There are rocks at either end of the beach providing pools full of hidden gems for children to explore. To the far side of the beach the headland of Baggy Point is owned by The National Trust and provides an exhilarating backdrop for coastal walks. This whole area is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest for its geology. Woolacombe is a short drive up the coast and has a three mile stretch of golden sand has been voted number one in the UK by TripAdvisor guests for the last two years. It also holds the England for Excellence Gold Award for best family resort and was voted the Best British Beach in the Mail On Sunday

Reviews

Wonderful peaceful week

Mrs B,

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Mrs J,

Comfortable and private cottage. Secure garden for dog. Lovely views from property. Be prepared for narrow winding roads to reach it.

Mrs M,

Lovely accommodation - clean, well equipped and comfortable. Quiet village location but ideal for visiting North Devon beaches and towns. Highly recommend this property.

Mrs P,

Property was ideal location for viewing north Devon. From the cottage you could walk or explore further afield with the car. Two great pubs in walking distance. We had poor weather during our break but staying inside until rain cleared was made easier as the cottage felt like home from home.

Mr C,

Beautiful cottage, lovely location. Two local pubs in walking distance with exceptional food. Family very welcoming. Will definitely book again.

Mr F,

Lovely little dog friendly cottage with all you need for a stay in Devon, great location with a couple of nice pubs close by.

Mr S,

Great location, cottage built to high specification

Mr Darren R,

An excellent little cottage. Great location, very close to beautiful beaches but away from the crowds. Spotlessly clean. Lovely spacious garden. Cottage finished to a high standard. We would love to return soon.

Mr W,

We had a very enjoyable stay in this gorgeous little cottage...Daisy especially liked the large enclosed garden to play in...the location was great for local beaches of Croyde Woolacombe Saunton & the simply stunning Puttsborough with its fabulous beach shop/cafe... Croyde & Puttsborough could easily be reached on foot...we visited one of the two local pubs 'The Rock' on several occasions...very friendly with excellent food...about 15 minutes walk from the cottage...gorgeous log burner in the cottage which proved to be a little warm for end of September...would be amazing for when it is much colder...the Hop House was a perfect stay for our discovery of North Devon
