Description

Brookside Cottage is a handsome slate traditional Lakeland cottage in the village of Windermere sleeping 6 people in a spacious setting. The centre of the village is only a few minutes walk away and bustling Bowness and Lake Windermere is a 20 minutes stroll but the cottage also has a fantastic hidden garden. In here, relax and listen to the bubbling beck running through the garden and watch the birds. The cottage has been tastefully and stylishly converted whilst retaining many original features.

This beautifully presented cottage is split over 3 floors; downstairs, we have the fully equipped modern kitchen with everything you could possibly need for your stay whilst just off the kitchen is the family room, which was originally two rooms. This beguiling space has now been converted into a large lounge and dining area, complete with comfortable seating around the large smart TV complete with Netflix, or indeed enjoy the striking fireplace, if you prefer to watch the mesmerizing flames at the end of the day, after exploring the Lake District. There is a generous dining table in this open plan area.

Upstairs on the first floor are two bedrooms, one a king size and the other a 3/4 size bed, each tastefully decorated and spacious with plenty of storage room. On this floor also is the family bathroom with bath and overhead shower. There are a further two bedrooms located on the second floor, a king size and a single. In these rooms, see the history of the cottage with period original wooden beams and sloping ceilings. You may have to watch your head a little in these rooms. Each bedroom has its own TV for you to enjoy.

Outside, you have the amazing hidden garden. Hard to believe you are only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village yet you have your own riverside garden. There is a lovely patio area with seating on the one side looking down onto the small beck which you can cross (using the stepping stones or you can avoid the stones by using the side gate) onto slopping lawned area. It's the most idyllic spot to relax and unwind yet you have the village and its cafe society, interesting independent shops and artisan pubs to hand.

Brookside Cottage is the perfect location for you, your guests and your four legged family members to enjoy and explore the Lake District National Park.

Reviews

Fabulous cottage loved it so much, very high quality fittings. The tub of Christmas chocolates and the bottle of wine was a lovely touch. Location was very good as well would definitely return to this cottage

Mrs G,

This is the first time we have used Original Cottages and I don’t think it will be the last. Our property was in an idea location, if you turn left out of the gate it is an easy walk to Windermere centre with its variety of shops. Turn right and walk to the lake we’re you can have a pleasant time on the water and afterwards buy an ice cream.

Mr H,

The location is excellent and in walking distance of Windermere and Bowness. The property is well maintained and fitted with all the necessary amenities. The layout is great for families. The garden has a stream running through it, which is great to relax with while having a drink on the patio. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

Mr F,

Great property, picturesque. Great location as only 5 minutes walk into windermere and 15 minutes if you want to go to Bowness. Loved staying here and would book again.

Mr W,

Thank you for a wonderful stay. We came here to celebrate my mum and dad's golden wedding anniversary. What a special place to be able to stay.

Past Customer,

Wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage, all amenities absolutely perfect for a celebratory stay. Bubbling brook was just the perfect added touch. Had a great time at home investigating the cricket connection as the hubby is an avid fan. Thank you.

Past Customer,

On initial entrance to the cottage, we were all bowled over by its beautiful presence. Especially the maidens in our party on its facilities. Its very well equipped with all amenities needed, and hits a six on all boundaries. It is certainly a cottage we will not boycott on future visits to the Lakes, and hope to plan a second innings. We have all had a wicket stay and will be hopefully headingly back. That's all from us, oval and out.

Past Customer,

We had a wonderful stay here in Brookside Cottage! The weather was very lovely and we visited many castles and halls. The landscape is very beautiful and we enjoyed hiking a lot. Thank you for the wonderful cottage stay! We enjoyed it very much.

Past Customer,

What an amazing place to spend special time with the family. Garden was brilliant for the dog and grandson. Cottage has everything and is in a great location.

Past Customer,

The location was perfect, the garden was brilliant, especially the little Brook running through it. The cottage had everything you could possibly need. It was very clean and we loved the little extras. Definitely be going back!

Ms Alison T,

Lovely cottage

Mrs Cheryl B,

Great house and lovely location. Enjoyed by all. All the elements you need in a holiday let including a stream in the back garden!

Mr Andrew K,

An absolutely perfect property. There is nothing at all to fault!!

Mrs Laura C,

I would have given 5 for everything as the description left out that the 1st floor landing was dangerous (banister stopped short and left a gap to fall down stairs) we wanted to put our elderly mother in the 3/4 bed but in the end had to re-jig who slept where. The attic stairs and the fact that I had to bend double to get under the beam to get into bed meant I had to sleep in a bumpy single bed. It was very hard to get up and the stairs. I feel complete descriptions should be made available with accurate pictures. Not simply showing a beam which makes no sense till you get up there.
