Description
This beautiful traditional Lakeland barn has been converted into a fantastic family home sleeping 8 people in 4 bedrooms.
On entering Orchard view you step straight into the lounge area, with traditional stone flags and wooden beams, the comfortable seating is all focused around the inviting log burner, the perfect place for family and friends to enjoy and plan your holiday adventures.
Just off the living area is the kitchen and dining area, finished in a modern and contemporary style. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with all you require for your break whilst the generous dining area and table will easily accommodate all your guests to enjoy a family meal together.
Also on the ground floor is the downstairs bedroom with private wet room. This bedroom has the added bonus of having its own entrance onto the front of the barn which is adjacent to the parking area which may be useful for guests with its easy access.
Upstairs we have a further 3 bedrooms and family bathroom. The master bedroom enjoys its own ensuite shower room and private a balcony overlooking the rear garden, a great spot for an early morning coffee. The rear garden comes with a table and chairs.
Also on this floor is a twin and a further double bedroom, both are tastefully decorated with period features throughout. The family bathroom has a large bath and overhead shower, great for soaking those limbs after a day on the fells.
One dog is allowed so why not bring the pooch and enjoy this fabulous cottage together.
Orchard view is just meters from the village centre yet has a peaceful back garden flanked by trees for privacy which is a lovely spot to relax and have a coffee from the balcony or from the patio within the garden or indeed enjoy your favourite tipple. Stepping from the cottage just down the lane you have the delightful bustling centre of Grasmere to enjoy with its excellent array of independent cafes, bars and restaurants to sample local food and drink including the infamous Grasmere Ginger Bread.
Across the village nestled beneath Easdale tarn if you fancy a special meal is the Michelin starred Forest side in the splendid statuesque Victorian building. If you enjoy the history of some of our bygone famous residents, how about Wordsworth Dove cottage in Ambleside or Allan bank with its hobby rooms for children such as the art room. Walkers are spoilt for choice with the surrounding fells and of course, Grasmere is flanked by Rydal water which has walks to suit all abilities. Why not also visit Rydal Hall and gardens and don’t forget here there are red squirrels in the woods so who can spot one first why don’t you see if you can spot one. Walk over Red bank and you are in the stunning Langdale valley and Elterwater with its superb vistas.
Ambleside is just a five-minute drive away with all its facilities and lake activities such as the lake cruises and as Grasmere is centrally located you are ideally located to exploring the Lake District Park in any direction.
In the words of Wordsworth Grasmere is “The loveliest spot that man hath found.” Come and be seduced on your holiday stay in Orchard Cottage
There is private parking for 2/3 cars directly outside the cottage.
Please be advised that guests are only permitted to use the rear garden. The garden is steep and not fully enclosed so please be careful if letting young children or dog outside unaccompanied.
NB: Being a traditional property, there are some low beams and ceilings in the living area and bathrooms, so you may need to be careful. The garden available to guests staying at Orchard view is to the rear of the property, the garden to the front is not associated with Orchard View.
