The attractive village of Cartmel is close by with the ancient 12th-century Priory, the UK’s smallest race course which holds meets through the summer and the village is renowned for its gastro offering with the famous Michelin star L’enclume restaurant and bistro. The pretty village itself has an interesting array of shops, eateries and a local brewery as well as being home to sticky toffee pudding found in the artisan shop and cafe in the village square.

Reviews

We had a lovely three night break at this beautiful cottage. The Welcome Pack was a bonus and much appreciated. The beds were so comfortable and we made use of the log burner for cosy evenings in. We couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable property. There were lovely walks from the cottage and we visited the local pub, Engine Inn, for a couple of drinks. Cartmel is only a ten minute drive away or a 40 minute walk (through the lanes rather than the main road as directed by a local). We enjoyed lunches at the Mallard Tea Shop and a Sunday roast at The Kings Arms. We will definitely look to return to this beautiful cottage.

Mrs M,

Good location close to Cartmel and good walking straight from the house! Comfortable and cosy house for our few days away before Christmas!

Mrs K,

We stayed in this beautiful cottage to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday with her family who all live locally. The cottage is beautiful inside with 3 double bedrooms which was great for us 6 adults and new born baby. The living area was warm and cozy with lots of space. wouldn't hesitate to stay here again as it has the Engine pub just at the end of the road and Cartmel is just a short ride away or a nice place to walk to which has lots of pubs and cafes to visit

Tony L,

Excellent facilities, good location for seeing the surrounding area.

Mr B,

Great location - enjoyed walks to Hampsfell, Ellerside and Sand Gate. Good golf at Ulverston! Good taxi service from Estate cars in Flookburgh for an evening meal in Cartmel.

Past Customer,

Lovely quiet location. Great accommodation improved by the amazing weather, not a cloud for four days. Walks with the dog down the bay and at Fell Foot in Windermere. Four lazy days. Welcome food packs for the four of us and the dog, very much appreciated.

Past Customer,

Had a great time and plenty to drink! Loved the cottage, shame about the weather. It has been very relaxing but pub too handy!

Past Customer,

We had a wonderful family weekend, house had everything we needed. My daughter whose 30th we were celebrating liked the quirky layout of the house. Thank you. Thankfully we were able to enjoy drinks sitting outside in the garden!

Past Customer,

A fantastic place to stay with everything we could possible need. We met family from Texas, USA, and have had a wonderful time exploring the area. We will definitely recommend the cottage to our friends and hopefully return again ourselves in the future.

Past Customer,

A lovely place to stay, thank you for hosting. Great for kids who enjoyed walks around Holker Hall and the park around the corner. Lovely warm welcome in the Engine Inn. Cartmel coffee was a lovely spot for lunch. The Pheasant Inn on the road out of Grange was also a great find for dinner. We were lucky getting in in Sunday so would recommend booking. A great stay in a lovely area, thank you.

Past Customer,

Excellent location, with beautiful local walks. The cottage was very well equipped and the welcome pack was a nice touch. We have stayed in this location a number of times and I can say this is the best yet.

Mr S,

A beautiful cottage in a lovely village. Inside the bedrooms were a good size with comfortable beds, very modern bathrooms and a kitchen equipped with everything you could need and more. We will definitely return.
