Description

Converted in 2004, Dale End Barn provides spacious accommodation for four people, perfect for those wishing to take advantage of the beauty of this part of the Lake District. Situated on the Red Bank road that runs between the villages of Elterwater and Grasmere. The doors for Dale End Barn open up to reveal a spacious living room featuring an electric stove, dining and kitchen area with wooden floor and plenty of roof windows making it a light and airy space. The kitchen has fridge with ice compartment, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and also a small breakfast bar. On the other side of the kitchen is a dining table and chairs for 4 people so you can relax and enjoy your self catering holiday in the Lake District if you stay at Dale End Barn. Off the lounge area, at either end of the barn are the en-suite bedrooms, both are carpeted and have Velux roof windows with blinds. The double bedroom has double bed, wardrobe and drawers, the second bedroom is twin bedded with wardrobe and dresser.

While the exterior remains that of an old stone barn (you'd never know it was converted if the barn doors were shut). The interior has been fitted out to a high standard. Those staying here will find it a comfortable haven in a peaceful location.

The outside space for Dale End Barn is a designated paved patio area which is set within the boundary of Dale End Farm's garden. It's located below and to the right of the parking area (approx. 50 yards from the property) and has it's own picnic bench accompanied by stunning views over Grasmere Lake, and to the fells beyond. The patio is also approx. 50 yards from the Barn, down Dale End Farm's driveway. You also have access to the shared garden.

The village of Grasmere is just over a mile away from Dale End Barn, as well being home to Dove Cottage, National Trust's Allan Bank and other attractions to enjoy Grasmere has all the necessary practical amenities as well; a local shop, pharmacy, post office and a choice of cafes, pubs and places to eat.

The property benefits from an interconnecting door from the Dale End Barn to Dale End Farm and will sleep a total of 15 if booked together with Dale End Farm (reference: GL008). It is also possible to book 'The Loggia' (reference: GL002) which will sleep 2 additional people, making 17 in total.

N.B To reach the patio area there are nine steps of local slate which are slightly uneven (common with many slate steps in gardens and outdoor space in the Lake District), followed by a grassy area. Access to the patio area may not be suitable for those with limited mobility.

Although all on one level once inside Dale End Barn there are a few external steps to the front door.

What's included?

We want our holiday cottages to be a 'home for home'. All the beds are made up ready for you, towels are included so no need to bring those, and shower mats are also provided. Two tea towels and a set of oven gloves/oven cloth will be in the kitchen along with a starter pack that includes: washing up liquid, kitchen roll, toilet roll, basic cleaning products, a bin bag in each bin and a few dishwasher tabs. This is just to 'start you off' on your self catering holiday in the Lake District; you will need to buy your own once these have run out.

Reviews

Large living room clean and tidy. Well equipped kitchen for family to cook and dinner. Accommodation is warm and calm. Beds are comfortable and the linens are clean and soft.

Mr L,

Just need to make it clear there is no direct access from property to garden, a walk around property to reach garden area is required, due to one main window for lake view, could do with trees/shrubs cutting back

Mr Martin Y,

Loved our stay at this cottage, beautiful location and great for walking

Mrs C,

The barn is well kept, comfortable and clean. The views from the patio area are stunning. As long as you are happy to make the 20 minute walk into Grasmere, as we were, this is an ideal spot for a short break.

Mr W,
