Description

Dairy cottage is part of the Bamburgh First collection of 12 different dog friendly houses and cottages under the same ownership with a consistent quality of interior design and attention to detail throughout. The interiors are professionally designed to suit each individual dwelling and the owner has tried to think of everything that will enhance the stay of every guest

Dairy Cottage sleeps up to 6 guests, has a lovely sitting room with a log burner, a well equipped kitchen that even has a NutriBullet and pressure cooker, 3 bedrooms, 2 travertine Bathrooms and its own barbecue patio area.

This charming converted sandstone stable is part of the quiet rural hamlet of Dukesfield, which nestles in fields just outside Bamburgh.

Netflix is included in all Bamburgh First properties as is a portable Bose Bluetooth speaker easy lighting fire logs and a box of games that include Scrabble, Cluedo and Monopoly.  The owner has also provided personal touches such as a hand selected welcome pack, a voucher for a pound of the famous Bamburgh Banger sausages and his own list of the top 21 things to do whilst spending a week in the area.

All the cottages at Dukesfield are usually rented individually by guests seeking a tranquil intimate space to spend with friends and loved ones but sometimes groups of friends rent more than one or even all the cottages for family gatherings, significant birthdays, golf parties and hen parties.

There is a paddocked area for kids, adults and dogs to run around in and maybe kick a football, and there is a shared tennis court, newly built gym with a treadmill, an elliptical trainer, weight bench and weights, an exercise bike and other sporting paraphernalia and hot tub.

Guests also have access to the Gathering Place which is a renovated large detached old farm building in the courtyard in which there is a Wii and a table tennis table.  This space can also be used for dinner parties of up to 24 people with perhaps different dishes being provided by friends or relatives in different cottages.  It’s a lovely way to have an inexpensive special dinner party with everyone sharing the work.

Dukesfield is situated a mile from the Budle Bay bird sanctuary and a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk from the historic seaside village of Bamburgh where the famous castle towers over miles of sandy beaches to the North and the village green to the West. Bamburgh was a finalist in Channel 4’s UK’s Top Village competition. Guests of Bamburgh First can claim up to two free rounds of golf per property booked at Bamburgh Castle Golf Club - please see below for more information. There you will find a lovely selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, tea houses and cafes as well as one of the most scenic golf clubs in Britain. Free games of Tennis underneath the castle on the village green are also provided to guests of Bamburgh First along with membership and discounted access to a gym and leisure club is also provided.

The market town of Alnwick with its historic (Hogwarts) Castle, Alnwick Gardens and the famous Barter Books, is 20 minutes away by car.  The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is 25 minutes to the North, and the Cheviot Hills and Northumberland National Park 20 minutes to the West.  Seahouses with its boat trips to the Farnes is 15 minutes away.  Hadrian’s Wall is just under two hours south.

It’s also easy to reach, with a short drive, all the pretty fishing towns on the coastline, Craster (home of the Kipper), Newton by the Sea, Alnmouth and Amble with their lovely marinas. Great pubs abound in this area.

Reviews

Dairy Cottage is a lovely place to stay. The views are stunning. I did walk to Bamburgh and it only took about 20 minutes even in the rain! The gym and hot tub are an added bonus and we took full advantage. We really enjoyed the log burner aswell so much so we are going to get one at home.

Mrs W,

We loved the property and it's facilities!Good location,we could walk into bamburgh over the fields in 20 minutes! We will visit again!

Mr M,

Lovely location and the cottages were extremely well thought out. Lots of things to see and do.

Mr T,

Dairy cottage lived up to expectations, all descriptions matched with what we were led to expect. Well appointed and everything you could need for a long weekend or a week away. The location was ideal and the outdoor facilities were very good as well. We spent most of our time outside on the decking enjoying the sunshine. We usually visit different places but have already recommended the cottages to our friends.

Miss B,

Overall, the cottage was lovely and great facilities including the hot tub, gym and games room. Our only concern was the power was not working when we got there . The engineer visited within the hour after we rang . Also you need for soft lighting. The LED overhead lights leave the room feeling very cold and detract from the cosy cottage feel. Will be back.

Mr Andy H,
