Description

The Dairy was previously a working dairy, which has been beautifully renovated to combine traditional character and charm with carefully selected contemporary furnishings. Set in its own grounds on the outskirts of the quiet yet accessible village of Llandegfan between Menai Bridge and Beaumaris on Anglesey, this detached cottage is a stunning place from which to enjoy a holiday.

The Cottage: The Dairy is arranged on a single level so suitable for those with limited mobility, but with one step up to the master bedroom and two steps down from the dining area into the lounge and the second bedroom. The flooring is attractive stone throughout.

Living Room: this large open-plan living dining room is beautifully presented and enjoys high cathedral style ceilings. There are two generous sofas, a flatscreen Smart TV with Netflix/ DVD/CD player, WiFi and a good selection of books and magazines. The dining area has a wooden table with seating for six.

Kitchen: the simple Shaker style kitchen has a Belfast sink, wooden surfaces and includes a dishwasher and washer/dryer. It is styled with reminders of the cottages' heritage as a dairy such as slate window sills, a milk churn and butter paddles.

There are two tasteful bedrooms

Bedroom 1: the spacious main bedroom is a beautiful room with a high ceiling and super king size bed and plenty of storage

Bedroom 2: is a beamed twin bedroom, which can be arranged as a double if preferred, although access to the bed is restricted to the one side in this configuration.

Shower room:  boasts a large walk-in tiled shower with a separate WC and basin opposite.

Outside: The Dairy is located in an enclosed spacious and private courtyard surrounded by traditional stone walls. There is garden seating for four within the courtyard along with a barbecue, fire pit and ample off-road parking for cars/boat. Secure bike storage available.

Guests are warmly invited to explore the wonderful gardens of the neighbouring Farmhouse - a formal terrace with pond and raised planters plus a traditional walled garden - both featured in The Telegraph - also an orchard, swing and seating positioned to admire the views. Nearby Beaumaris has a historic castle and gaol and is in a lovely position on the Menai straits. Walks can be taken along the coast to the spectacular Penmon Point with its ancient priory, dove cote and lighthouse. Boat trips can be taken to explore Puffin Island and its wildlife, or rib rides for the more adventurous. The small town of Menai Bridge (along with Beaumaris) has many lovely independent shops and a good selection of quality cafes and restaurants. The National Trust's Plas Newydd with its spectacular house and gardens is a short drive away whilst just across the Menai Straits is the city of Bangor and the Snowdonia National Park.

Dogs are made to feel very welcome at The Dairy; the courtyard is safe and enclosed and there is an outside tap and hose for cleaning muddy paws. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Having never been to Anglesey before this was a good base to explore from. The enclosed yard area was ideal and safe for our dog, with several footpath directed walks off the lane where the cottage is located. Well equipped and in a lovely quiet location, there are many lovely beaches that are dog friendly and easy to find, also some costal route walks as a contrast to the beach itself. There are several places of interest to see, we went for a week, but may return to see th places we didn’t get to see. A relaxing week away.

Location

 Llandegfan is an incredibly beautiful and popular part of Anglesey, between Beaumaris and Menai Bridge. From the property you can stroll down to the Gazelle pub which is situated right on the coast, and the stunning Plas Cadnant gardens are just down the road. Below are just 7 things close by that you could do in a weeks holiday. 

1-Top of the list has to be a visit to the stunning Beaumaris Castle, built as part of Edward I's campaign to conquer the north of Wales! Great for all the family especially combined with a visit to the Victorian Gaol museum.

2 - It’s worth taking plenty of time to stroll through the towns of Beaumaris and Menai Bridge. There are lots of independent shops, art galleries, a lovely jewelry shop, a superb bakery (Central Bakery )in Beaumaris , also good cafes and the famous Red Boat Ice cream parlour. For evening dining out try the Pier House Bistro or The Bull in Beaumaris or Dylans in Menai Bridge. For a very special treat try the Michelin starred Sosban & The Old Butchers also in Menai Bridge, but book early for this one!

3 - Take a stroll along the sea front with its pretty pastel houses and really stunning views across the sea to the mountains of Snowdonia, a much photographed view and you will see why.

4 – Take a cruise down the Menai Straits or over to puffin island to spot the birds or seals. Or take a fishing trip. The boats leave from Beaumaris sea front.

5 – Beaumaris holds many events throughout the year. At the end of May is the Beaumaris arts festival, at the beginning of September is the popular food festival. Bonfire night is a big affair here and there is a Victorian Christmas festival at the end of November.

6 – A short scenic drive down the coast is the ancient Penmon Priory, church and Dovecote, all in a beautiful position, then stroll or drive down to Penmon Point for spectacular views to the lighthouse and over to Puffin Island. In the other direction the National Trusts' Plas Newydd is superb, along with its extensive gardens and many events held throughout the year.

 7- Summer or winter, a visit to the area wouldn’t be complete without going to some of Anglesey’s beaches. The golden sands and popular summer resorts of Benllech, Moelfre and Lligwy are a short drive away and in the other direction, and perfect for winter walks, is Newborough with its little island and walking and biking forest trails.
