Description

Sitting in an elevated position half a mile from the centre of Ilfracombe and boasting amazing views is The Farthings – a fantastic home  sleeping eight people.. With a hot tub on the decking and a terraced garden, this contemporary holiday accommodation provides spacious living for a large family or group of friends. Entrance is on the ground level with stairs leading up to the apartment which is then on one level. The open-plan kitchen/diner has patio doors opening out onto a wide decking with a sunken hot tub, sun loungers and a table and chairs – perfect for watching the world go by at any time of the day. The living room has floor to ceiling windows to make the most of the view, a woodburning stove for cooler evenings and plenty of comfortable leather settees and chairs. All four bedrooms are beautifully decorated – two of which have en-suite facilities – and there is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. 

The popular Victorian seaside town of Ilfracombe is approx. half a mile away.  Here you will find a choice of family friendly pubs, restaurants and independent shops.  Boat and fishing trips are available from the harbour where the famous Damien Hirst statue of Verity attracts much attention.  Ilfracombe also has an indoor swimming pool, golf club, aquarium and museum.  Stunning coastal walks can be enjoyed direct from the town.

The farthings was everything we hoped for. Lots of space for the family to spread out in, a great view, (amazing sunsets) and immaculately clean and well appointed. The kitchen was excellently equipped. The owner was very helpful with ideas for activities and days out Woolacombe beach was only a short drive away and Ilfracombe Harbour was great for paddle boarding. We would definitely stay there again.

This property is absolutely stunning and is most certainly a 5 star rating. The layout of all the rooms is good and the lounge is huge with plenty of top quality settees, chairs and large footstools with soft furnishings. Plenty of room for everyone in our party of 5 adults and 2 children. The house was cleaned to a very high standard. The bedrooms are very spacious with comfortable beds and good quality bedding and all have plenty of storage space. The kitchen is well equipped including lots of crockery, cutlery, pans and a wide variety of different types of glassware. The balcony is large with good quality tables, chairs, sunbeds and a parasol. We enjoyed using the two barbecues and of course the hot tub was a winner with us all. The gardens are well kept and also have lovely views, the top garden also has a patio area. The views are stunning from the balcony and also the floor to ceiling windows in the house. We were lucky enough to have some good weather and enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the sunset. The property is well situated for visits to Clovelly, Croyde, Woolacombe, Lynmouth etc all within a short drive and is a few minutes from the centre of Ilfracombe. Steph is most friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. We would strongly recommend a stay at this property for anyone who would like to visit North Devon.
