Description

This is a cosy stone-built character cottage which is centrally located in the popular village of Askrigg in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Shippon in Askrigg is ideal at any time of the year with a pretty cottage garden for the summer and a log burner for the chilly winter nights. Off road parking a real bonus in such a busy village. Sleeping up to four people in two bedrooms this is perfect for couples, friends and families, a home away from home looking to holiday together in this Dales village. This popular Dales village with its ancient market cross, notable church and cobbled central square was once home to the fictional surgery of Dales vet James Herriot, whilst the Kings Arms became the setting for the Drover’s Arms.  There are many footpaths around the village for a short stroll or if you are looking for more of a challenge can walk further along the valley to Hawes or eastwards to Carperby, Aysgarth Falls, Castle Bolton and Redmire.  Askrigg has excellent places to eat including two pubs, a hotel, tea room, deli and fish and chip van every Wednesday. Reviews

Very comfortable cottage and convenient for walks from the door. Is very central for touring in the Yorkshire Dales.

Mr G,

This cottage was presented to a very high standard and we were immediately very comfortable. The location was ideal and quietly located for the delightful village and for cycling aroung the Yorkshire Dales. Also the nice welcoming pack including refreshments and milk was most appreciated. The owners provided ample fuel for the woodburner which happily wasn't required! The shed was just right for bicycle storage. We definitely plan to return when we can.

Mr N,

Our second visit to this lovely cottage. We've enjoyed out week and have been lucky to have had amazing weather. The Yorkshire Dales will always be a favourite holiday spot for us where we can relax amongst wonderful scenery and friendly locals. Many thanks for the Goodies on our arrival.

Past Customer,

Shippon is a very clean, comfortable cottage, it's been wonderful, lovely village of Askrigg with the Kines arms standing out for us, we can now see why it's gods country. Yorkshire Dales are stunning

Past Customer,

We love Askrigg and visit regularly to meet our friends who live here. Enjoyed staying in the Shippon which suited all our needs. Bolton Castle is well worth a visit and the lovely walks and views are worth the hard climbs.

Past Customer,

Everything was as expected, first time visiting the dales and it won’t be the last, the property was great for the two of us and in a beautiful location, the scenery is stunning and fortunately the weather was perfect. Thank you .

Mr Michael P,

We really enjoyed the accomodation.

Mr Anthony L,

Lovely cottage. We have enjoyed Askrigg with mixed weather!

Past Customer,

Lovely location and a cosy cottage as a base to explore. We've had some lovely walks, got very, very wet and enjoyed all the village amenities. Thanks xx

Past Customer,

Lots of walks in the area - Mill Gil, Addlebrough, Cat Leap Falls. Visited Bolton Castle. Still good bird watching despite being late in the season - saw Kestrel, Buzzard, Gold Crest, Red Grouse, and meadow pipits were our highlights. The stars were amazing on a clear night too!

Past Customer,

Cosy comfortable and clean cottage in lovley part of Yorkshire. Went into Hawes, Leyburn, Wensleydale Creamery and Wensleydale Railway. Kings Arms is good for food and White Rose Hotel. Rained a bit so unable to do much walking but plenty of lovely places to walk otherwise. Thank you for the welcome goodies!

Past Customer,

Past Customer,

Lovely cottage, excellent location and lovely walking. Kings Arms friendly and excellent food.

We had a lovely week in Askrigg- what a lovely village. Great walks from the cottage to the local waterfalls as well as to Aysgarth Falls (longer walk- 8 miles). Lovely food at The Kings Arms. We had a roast Sunday platter and pie night on Tuesday. Humble Pie cannot be missed!! Gorgeous quiche and cakes you can't resist. Thursday was the sheepdog demonstration outside Hawes. Wensleydale Creamery was very good. Lovely cottage, very comfortable and well equipped. Loved the mini dishwasher. The woodburner was great too. A good rest to recharge our batteries. Very clean. Thank you very much.

Very comfy stay. Well equipped with a lovely welcome tray of cake! Our first stay in Askrigg as we usually stay in Gayle near Hawes but we couldn't fault the accommodation. Lovely meal in The White Rose and great meat from Campbell's in Leyburn.
