Description

Surrounded by stunning scenery and located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is Littlebeck, an exceptionally spacious and well equipped detached stone built property sleeping 10 people in 5 bedrooms, plus 2 on the large sofa bed in the family room (if required). This impressive house (formerly two cottages and a barn) has many contemporary facilities including Smart TVs in the sitting room, family room and each bedroom, free wi-fi throughout and usb sockets in all rooms, whilst retaining bags of character and charm with part exposed stone walls, window seats with views of the dale and fells and exposed wooden columns. Situated in the centre of the delightful village of Kettlewell in Upper Wharfedale, Littlebeck enjoys a quiet and idyllic position by the village maypole alongside Kettlewell Beck, home to brown trout and crayfish, as it flows from Great Whernside to the Wharfe. Kettlewell is well served by 3 village pubs each serving food, a cafe and a deli, village store/newsagent, petrol station, childrens playground and a National Parks car park with electric vehicle charging points. The Dalesway passes through the village and directly past Littlebeck so there are outstanding views of Upper Wharfedale; and long distance, fell and riverside walks from its front door. Cycling (Tour de Yorkshire route), horse-riding, fishing and golf are within easy reach.

The hand crafted kitchen incorporates a range of Bosch appliances including fridge, dishwasher, an electric oven and hob, and an AGA with two ovens and hotplates, charmingly situated beneath a feature wooden lintel. The twin Belfast sinks and expansive granite worktops enhance the facilities of this high quality and well equipped kitchen. The adjacent utility room contains a fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer plus tableware and equipment for terrace dining, boot and outdoor clothing storage.

Next to the kitchen the main dining room has a large table seating 10 people and feature open grate fireplace. Also directly off the kitchen the breakfast room has table and chairs for 6 with under-stairs storage for high chair, travel cot (with mattress) and safety gates.

Littlebeck offers guests two separate reception rooms. The main sitting room has ample comfortable seating, a wood burning stove and a door leading to the terrace. This well lit room with windows to 3 sides and a wood burning stove is an ideal retreat for reading or relaxing on the luxurious sofas after a day exploring the local area. The family room is another large room with comfortable seating, including a high quality sofa bed to sleep an additional two guests if required (with bedding, linen, and towels available in the adjacent cupboard) and gas stove fire.

Two staircases lead to separate bedroom areas. The main stairs rise from the dining room to a spacious landing with additional seating area for quiet relaxation. Off this landing are three of the bedrooms all with their own en suite shower rooms featuring rainfall showers. The second staircase leads to the master bedroom and the fifth bedroom which share the house bathroom.

To the rear of the property is an extensive terrace overlooking Kettlewell Beck. This area is perfect for dining outside, especially if using the barbecue, or simply enjoying some time relaxing in the Yorkshire Dales fresh air. There is plenty of seating and tables and good lighting for when the evening draws to a close.

This is a fantastic holiday home offering guests a high level of luxury (including oversized duvets to single and double beds) in a beautiful area. The owner provides a lovely welcome pack which will ensure that your holiday gets off to a great start. Within 100 yards is one of the three village pubs, with the other two, the village shop, garage, two cafes and an excellent children's playground all within 200 yards. With two main sitting rooms, two dining areas plus the terrace it makes an ideal place for families or groups of friends looking to holiday together. Grassington and the popular market towns of Skipton, Leyburn and Hawes are short drives away through spectacular countryside, but the best way to experience this is on foot. Littlebeck is directly on the Dalesway and there are of course many walks right from its front door.

Past Customer,

We have booked many holiday vacation homes for our family over many years and in many countries. This was far and away the best house we’ve ever stayed in. It’s beautiful, comfortable, well equipped, and in an excellent location. All three generations loved it. The patio had plenty of seating around two large picnic tables and the stream running past was lovely. Kettlewell is charming with 3 pubs, excellent ice cream and a very good children’s playground. We were well positioned for terrific walks, rigorous hikes, and casual strolls. It was an easy drive to the train in Skipton for a quick ride into Leeds for the theatre. Thank you Yorkshire Holiday Cottages for a wonderful holiday.

Ms D,

Fab place and would recommend it for any groups or family to go and stay. We were a group of four couples who all enjoyed the place, location and people.

We would definitely recommend this cottage and are very likely to return.

Miss A,

Location

With its limestone terraces, the little village of Kettlewell is full of charm and is the ideal base for touring the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The village is popular with walkers, with some of the best walks in the Dales to be found in the area, from gentle riverside strolls to exploring quiet country lanes. The village is known for its farming of Swaledale Sheep as well as having provided the backdrop for the village of Knapely in the popular film, Calendar Girls. The hills surrounding Kettlewell are dotted with old mine shafts, with much of the village's housing created as homes for miners. By the 19th century, Kettlewell’ s mines had closed with tourism now being the village's main industry.

Kettlewell is well served by 3 village pubs each serving food, a cafe and a deli, village store/newsagent, petrol station, children's playground and a National Parks car park with electric vehicle charging points. The Dalesway passes through the village and directly past Littlebeck so there are outstanding views of Upper Wharfedale; and long distance, fell and riverside walks from its front door. Cycling (Tour de Yorkshire route), horse-riding, fishing and golf are within easy reach. There is also an annual scarecrow festival held in the village every August.
