Reviews

Our second time visiting the cottage. We have had a fantastic time . The weather has been fantastic. It is a lovely well equipped cottage which is located in a peaceful area. The owners have put a lot of thought into the accommodation. The summerhouse is an extra bonus as you can bird watch late into the evening. We left the cottage feeling very relaxed.

Past Customer,

A week of scorching hot weather and cloudless skies. After long hot walks it was great to return to a cool comfortable cottage and enjoy the views and birdwatching from the wonderful summerhouse.

Past Customer,

What a lovely setting. Super cottage, well equipped and with nice touches. We’ve loved relaxing in the summerhouse in rain and shine. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack.

Past Customer,

First time in this cottage and we are amazed by its location and all the home comforts provided to us in the welcome pack. It’s an amazing cottage and we will definitely be back. Relaxing fishing, watching oystercatchers, geese and herons. It’s like heaven on earth.

Past Customer,

Stayed 17th to 22nd July 2023 3rd visit, love this cottage and it’s setting. Pure heaven. Wildlife so amazing. Weather not too kind to us, but had a great time. Thanks for the hamper much appreciated.

Past Customer,

We loved our return visit to the cottage and experienced exceptionally high standards as always. Perfect with the summerhouse, a lovely relaxing retreat. Would love to return next year. Thank you.

Past Customer,

Delightful property, lovely surroundings and well appointed. Great access for walks and more.

Mr P,

The cottage was adorable. The interior was so lovely and pretty. An excellent welcome hamper was included. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The location was exactly as described. The company kept me well informed of the booking/times/ key pick up point etc.

Mrs Deborah R,

Cosy and comfortable cottage in an idyllic and rural location. Fantastic attention to detail and a lovely welcome hamper plus super toiletries too. Good location for exploring the local area by car, but equally good for local walks from the door. The summerhouse is wonderful for watching the local wildlife. Hawes is close by with shops and places to eat. The lake district is within an hours drive. But we loved returning to the tranquility of Blades each evening and just relaxing and chilling out.

Mrs O,

What a glorious weeks weather we have had. It made our stay at Blades an idyllic holiday. Even better than last year. Every walk and trip was memorable, even the cuckoo seemed to be enjoying it. We have already booked for next year. A fabulous gem of a cottage.

Past Customer,

A third visit back to Blades and not the last we hope. Wonderful time enjoying this beautiful peaceful place. Once again blessed to see many Curlews and Oystercatches. Have thoroughly enjoyed watching the charm of Goldfinches on the feeders and a pair of Woodpeckers on the telegraph pole in the field. We love the summerhouse, it is such a beautiful asset. We’ve spent many early mornings and evenings enjoying the view including seeing the steam train on its way north and back. Wonderful as ever. Surrounded by Curlews & Lapwings. Thank you so much for creating such a lovely haven to stay.

Past Customer,

Fabulous cottage with every attention to detail. We have stayed in many cottages and villas at home and abroad but none as good as Blades. Excellent fly fishing below the cottage and down to the bridge.

Past Customer,

Another wonderful stay at Blades. Thanks so much for all the lovely added extras. The White Hart well worth a visit but booking essential. Fairfield Mill also worth a visit. We hope to be back again.

David and N,

Great place. Thanks for the welcome pack. Fantastic walks and stunning views all round. Must come back again.

Mrs H,

Back for the 3rd time. Thanks for the welcome pack and milk the biscuits were lovely. We were really lucky with the weather. We recommend The George pub at Hubberholme for Sunday lunch and the lovely drive over there. Got to see lots of birds and starry skies. Thank you again.

Past Customer,

Another blissful stay at Blades. Lots of fresh air, lovely curlews and catching up with old friends. Cannot wait to return! Love being here so much.

Past Customer,

What a perfect decision to spend a week in your lovely cottage in the Dales. We have done several walks in beautiful winter weather, even snow at the end of the week. We have enjoyed the cosy fire after a long day walking but we have to come back for the “summerhouse “. Recommend the linear walks between Garsdale and Kirkby Stephen stations. (Walk 15. Wild Boar Fell from the book at the cottage “Green Networks of the Dales). Thanks for everything Margaret & John.

Past Customer,

Thank you for a great holiday. We went on many lovely walks and enjoyed breath taking views of the Yorkshire dales. We recommend the Hawes circular route. Thank you for the gifts on arrival.
