Description

DRUM

Full of character, Drum Cottage is a cute 17th Century holiday home situated a couple of minutes’ walk away from the quayside and shops in Appledore. Sleeping four people and two dogs, the double-fronted cottage has an original steep curving staircase, quaint window seats, low hanging beams (6ft in height) and low door thresholds. Modern twists such as underfloor heating, a well-equipped kitchen/diner with plenty of units and a light and airy conservatory make Drum Cottage a great choice all year round. The front door leads directly into the low-beamed living room which has a woodburning stove set into a large stone fireplace with a dark wood lintel. This in turn leads into a spacious kitchen/diner and conservatory – a superb open-plan living space providing a sociable area for the whole party to enjoy time together. Patio doors lead out from the conservatory onto a fully enclosed terraced patio garden with outside furniture. A bathroom, with a shower over the bath, completes the accommodation downstairs.  Upstairs there is a good-sized double bedroom and a delightful twin room with characterful window seat. Drum Cottage is just a couple of minutes’ walk through quaint narrow streets with colourful cottages to the quayside with its small range of pubs, shops and galleries. A seasonal ferry takes passengers to the pretty little estuary village of Instow, with its sheltered stretch of sandy beach, award winning deli and further choice of family friendly pubs and restaurants.

The surfing beach and famous Royal North Devon Golf Club at Westward Ho!, indoor pool at Northam, the Big Sheep family attraction and Atlantic Village shopping outlet are all within a short drive.

Reviews

Beautiful cottage Lovely welcome with flowers Perfect for dogs

Ms B,

Drum cottage is a lovely property. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing holiday , well equipped and warm and cosy

Mr E,

We have stayed in a lit of cottages and this rates right up there. The location was fantastic and the added bonus of an allocated parking space was really convenient. It had the best of both worlds with a lovely cottage feel in the living room and bedrooms but with a modern kitchen, dining room and conservatory. The cottage is one of the best equipped one that we have ever stayed in. We will almost certainly be returning as we had such a great week, even storm Ciaran couldn't spoil it.

Mr N,

Loved drum cottage and it helped that we dropped on a week of brilliant weather. The cottage is well equipped like home from home. It had a dish washer, washing machine and all kitchen utensils you can think of. We were left a welcome pack of lurpak butter milk fresh bread biscuits and treats for our dog. The bedrooms have hairdryers. We will definitely return to this cottage

Mrs C,

Drum Cottage is delightful and very well equipped with everything you could need and more. It was very clean with a lovely welcome pack for us humans and even biscuits, food bowls and poo bags were provided for our dog. The location is beautiful and Appledore has fantastic restaurants that are dog friendly and within walking distance of the cottage. The surf beaches are only a short drive away so you really do have the best of both worlds when staying there. We would definitely book Drum cottage again in the future.

Mrs C,

The weather wasn't the greatest but the cottage was so cosy and comfortable that we were able to relax with plenty of spaces to sit and relax with the family and our dog. Drum cottage was spotless, the beds were comfortable and the rooms airy - if we required anything it was good to know that there was a local contact although not required. There were some great local restaurants and useful information for ordering online in the kitchen. Some lovely pubs with live music plus walks for the dog and great places to visit not far from Appledore - we were well placed to explore North Devon including the local beaches and so much more. We really felt we were home from home and thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite only a few sunny days and recommend Drum cottage which is truly an old historic dwelling which used to be a pub but with all the mod cons.

Mrs M,

Amazing Drum cottage in beautiful Appledore, had everything you could need for a great holiday, very clean and comfortable, with a great layout 10/10

Mr M,

beautifully decorated cottage , ideal location for walking into Appledore or as a base for the wider area. The addition of the parking permit was extremely valuable as parking is limited. Especially loved the converseratory at the back of the cottage it was light and airy. The stairs are quirky , I would not recommend for the infirm or those with toddlers or young children. The cottage is on practically on the road , so again care needed with young children and dogs.

Mrs A,

Drum Cottage was perfect and had everything needed for a comfortable holiday for humans and 4 legged friends. Appledore is a fantastic place close to beaches and places to visit. We would highly recommend.

Mr F,

Drum Cottage is a lovely clean comfortable and spacious cottage. There were even treats and bowls for our dog. We had a lovely week staying there and would book again.

Mrs Wendy O,

Appledore is a lovely location and close to our family . We chose the cottage to have an early Christmas celebration with them all
