Description

Monks Bridge is a charming three bedroomed single-storey converted former school house, ideally situated at the edge of the peaceful village of Crosby Ravensworth and within easy walking distance of the local pub. The property is located next to Lyvennet Beck and Monks Bridge from where the cottage takes its name. Dating back to the 1700's this spacious property is in an ideal location for those wanting to explore Cumbria, the Yorkshire Dales and the Pennines. There is a delightful garden to relax in, or if the weather is not in your favour why not take a seat in the sun room that overlooks the Beck. If you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of the red squirrels, ducks and other wildlife that visit the area. Monks Bridge provides modern amenities yet has retained much of the character of the original building such as the lofty ceilings, arched windows and wooden floors and is an ideal holiday destination for families or groups of friends.

Reviews

We can only say "wow", this must be the best cottage we have ever stayed in! The property itself was once a school and has retained many traditional features whilst being furnished and equipped in a modern contemporary way. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable on every level. On entering the living-dining room, the warmth was wonderful and that was before we lit the beautiful wood-burning stove - which had an endless supply of logs - unusual these days. To our delight we found a bottle of bubbly in the fridge and other goodies which helped us enjoy New Year's Eve. Kitchen was amply stocked with spotless pots, pans, etc., and had a lovely little breakfast table and fitted wooden benches. Beds were extremely comfortable with clean white linen and also "Soak & Sleep" pillows, an added bonus. Towels in bathroom were also of very good quality. Local pub, the Butcher's Arms was within short walking distance, the food being excellent and the staff very friendly, but remember to take a torch in the evenings! These were also supplied. All in all, we cannot think of a better place to stay and a very huge "thank you" to the owners for allowing us to share their property. Would recommend to anyone.

Mrs D,

We stayed as a group of four in this lovely cottage for a surprise birthday gift and it was the most magic surprise we could have ever imagined creating - very much thanks to all that this cottage and it’s beautiful surrounding scenery have to offer. If you are looking for some time to switch off, retreat and ground yourself on walks and in a comforting space I wholeheartedly recommend you to visit Monks Bridge. The hosts were also incredibly quick in responding whenever we had any questions. Grateful to have found this place.

Ms M,

An amazing, relaxing holiday in such a beautiful house. Incredible location next to the river. Delicious food in the Butchers Arms. Lovely walks seeing heron, deer and lots of lovely lambs in the beautiful countryside. Certainly a holiday to remember.

Past Customer,

Excellent cottage, very comfortable and enjoyed walking around.

Past Customer,

We've had a wonderful week here with excellent weather. Enjoyed meeting locals in the pub and down the street. Hope to return! Many thanks.

Past Customer,

We had a great week in this lovely cottage, in a fantastic location. Plenty of good walks despite the weather. Good boat ride at Ullswater as recommended. Butchers Arms was very good and the New Inn at Hoff was very welcoming.

Past Customer,

The house was beautiful and we had a lovely stay. My only negative would be the welcome box which was sparse compared to other holiday cottages.

Mrs Susanne D,

A lovely property in a lovely location. Really enjoyed our stay at Monks Bridge and felt very sorry to leave.

Dr K,

The property was a lovely cottage in an idyllic village with walks straight from the door.

Mrs Ann B,

We had a wonderful stay at Monks Bridge. Monks Bridge is so spacious with a lovely garden & views of the river. The house is fully equipped with everything you need & more. We had some lovely walks right from the front door, lots of trips out, where nowhere is too far to travel to & the village pub is very lovely & definitely worth a visit for a meal. Thank you again Julia, we will certainly be returning to your lovely property.
