Sudbury, one of Suffolk's wool towns is located on the Suffolk and Essex border and is most famous for being the birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough. You can learn all about the artist at the popular Gainsborough House Museum and Gallery. Sudbury is still surrounded by the famous water meadows which inspired Gainsborough paintings and also Suffolk's other famous artist John Constable. This bustling market town has many well known and independent shops, restaurants and cafes to choose from as well as a good selection of pubs for you to try the local ales. Long Melford is very close to the town where you can explore Melford Hall and Kentwell Hall. Cavendish, Lavenham and Clare, famous for its antiques, are nearby villages and the river Stour and Constable Country are all within easy reach.

Reviews

We had a lovely time at this cottage and it was all quite easy to book. The location was perfect for us and our dog and we were able to relax.

Mr Michael B,

The cottage is comfortable, clean and very well equipped. It is in the ideal location from which to explore the many attractions Suffolk has to offer such as Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham, Melford, Flatford Mill and the Anglo-Saxon village at West Stow.
