Description

Button Cottage is a delightful property for four people and two small dogs in the peaceful village of Northam which lies between Appledore and Westward Ho! Full of character with a sunny patio and lawned garden, it is just a few minutes’ walk from the shops, pub and restaurant in the village – and a little further to the leisure centre, gym and swimming pool. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner on the ground floor is a sociable area where everyone can be together. It has a couple of comfortable settees to relax in, a dining table near the front window and a glazed door leading out onto the rear enclosed patio and lawned garden. The compact kitchen is beautifully decorated and has everything you will need to cook. Upstairs, both the characterful bedrooms share the use of the family bathroom which has a shower fitted over the bath. Outside, the “cute-factor” continues with a couple of patios, complete with tables and chairs, and a lawned garden. Button Cottage is in a great location to explore North Devon. It’s just a short drive (or brisk 20 minute walk) from the Northam Burrows Country Park which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It is home to a diverse range of natural habitats, including salt marsh, open grassland, rocky shore and sand dunes; it is a haven for all kinds of wildlife, from vivid lichens to coastal birds. The Royal North Devon Golf Club is also close by.  In the summer season, be sure to visit the Northam Burrows Centre (located towards the north of the beach) to discover more about the wildlife, or even join one of the free family events run by the team there; events range from rockpool rambles and nature walks to sandcastle competitions and treasure hunts!

Reviews

Lovely cottages. Great days out in Westward Ho!, Bideford and Appledore. Lexi the dog enjoyed the beach. Many thanks

Past Customer,

We've stayed at a lot of different cottages in Devon. This was probably the smallest and we have 2 grown up children. The cottage was quite cold and damp until we controlled the central heating. There was a strong smell of damp when we arrived which disappeared with heating and a plug in airfreshner - damp needs to be addressed as part of maintenance. Parking behind the church is no longer free, but we did manage to find free parking in Cross Street and neighbouring roads. We enjoyed our stay and had all we needed for our stay. We loved the garden! We like the location - we know northam, westward ho! And Appledore well so everything was accessible. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Mrs Alison Q,

Thank yu for a lovely week in Button Cottage. Really cosy and well equipped. A great base for walks to Appledore and Westward Ho. We've certainly upped our step count this week. Fish and Chips just down the road were excellent, as was the Chinese round the corner. Welcome treats were a lovely surprise. Thank you

Past Customer,

Thank you for our lovely stay in Button Cottage, 4 days wasn't long enough. Button Cottage is very cosy and very well equipped. Thank you for the flowers, biscuits and bath treats, very welcome. Button Cottage is in the perfect location for travelling around the local areas. We have enjoyed our stay very much.

Past Customer,

Our first stay in Devon was a lovely one. A beautifully located cottage, with lots of individuality, and we were blessed with the nice weather. Chippy and Chinese both recommended, Westerd Ho beach was fab, and really enjoyed Hartland Quay. Lots of lovely walking/running in the area too. Thanks for a great stay, would definitely return.

Past Customer,

Good location in the centre of town - shops and pub nearby. Easy to walk to Westward Ho! and Appledore and close to main roads through the area. Should be noted that if you need to have your car very close to your accommodation that won’t be possible, but car park is less than 5 mins walk away. Cottage itself is cosy - kitchen has all you need, heating works fine and bath/shower were as per normal in this size of property (shower above bath). Didn’t use the garden as was autumn but looked nice. Owner was helpful in responding to queries by text message.
