Reviews

Perfect location for exploring Snowdonia and the coast. Great place to come back to after days rambling. Friendly, helpful owner.

Mr Colin G,

Location

Cae Bach is one of two semi-detached, 5-star cottages that provide an excellent location for you to enjoy the best of Snowdonia National Park and the North Wales coast. Both cottages have walled gardens, making them private from each other and should you wish to invite extended family or friends there is also the option of a small campsite in a field behind the farm yard.

Set on a working farm, the cottage is just 200 yards from Rowen's village pub, offers 10 walks from the doorstep as well as a cycling route to Conwy (4.5 miles) and Llandudno Junction. The village pub serves delicious bar meals and also offers traditional Welsh singing every Friday night. There are plenty of other recommended places to eat within a 5 mile radius as well, including The Groes Inn, less than 2 miles away, The Dutch Pancake House in Rowen (0.8 mile), and a great variety of cafes and restaurants in Conwy, such as Amilies Restaurant, Watson's Bistro and Edwards of Conwy deli. The nearest shop is Gyffin Convenience Store, 4 miles, whilst Tesco is within 6 miles at Llandudno Junction.

A great variety of attractions can also be found nearby, including Surf Snowdonia's artificial wave lagoon, less than 4 miles away - the world's first commercial artificial surfing lake and the perfect tool for learning to surf. The walled town of Conwy is also an attraction in itself, with its World Heritage Site status, its medieval castle, suspension bridge, the smallest house in Britain and so much more, including the 15th century Aberconwy House, one of the oldest dateable houses in Wales.

Conwy Water Gardens in Rowen (0.8 miles) with its nature trail, coarse fishing, an aquatic centre and pancake is well worth a visit, as well as Llandudno (8.5 miles) with its famous Victorian pier, beach, Theatre, ski slope, cable cars and more. Not to mention Llanrwst market town (9 miles) Betws y Coed (13.5 miles) - one of the main activity hubs of Snowdonia and home to Zip World Fforest, and Zip World Velocity at Penrhyn Quarry (21 miles) - the fastest zip line in the world. Another attraction on anyone's bucket list during a visit to North Wales is a walk (or train journey) to the highest peak in Wales - Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), 27 miles.
