Description

A handsome holiday home on the fringes of the historic village of Dunwich, this semi-detached property is perfect for days on the beach and heathland walks. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom retreat is just 0.5 miles from the long pebble beach, where you can paddle, swim and play. Dine out at the village pub or head into Southwold, 7.5 miles away, with its array of eateries, as well as independent shops. Tranquil Dunwich is renowned for having once been a major medieval port which was lost to the sea during a major storm. The beautiful heathland has a myriad of footpaths and is also known for its plethora of wildlife. Keen wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers will also wish to visit RSPB Minsmere, just 3 miles away and easy to reach by cycle or car.

Enter the semi-detached property to find a lounge where you can relax with your family and friends and which has character features, including a beamed ceiling and pamment floor. There is also a wood burner housed in a brick chimney breast for you to light on chilly days. The compact kitchen has everything you need to whip up tasty holiday meals and conveniently adjoins a dining area. The family bathroom and all the bedrooms are up on the first floor of the cottage. These include a pretty double bedroom with picturesque heathland views, and two wonderful twin bedrooms.

Gaze out across the heath from the lawned garden, which is bordered with fencing and hedge, but not completely enclosed. There is a patio for meals outside on sunny days.

Appletree Cottage is the perfect destination for those who share a love of the countryside as well as the coast. With its unspoilt heathland and fabulous forest there are plenty of walking trails for nature spotting. What’s more, you’re just a short drive away from coastal hotspots such as Southwold and Aldeburgh or enjoying a family day out exploring the nature trails at RSPB Minsmere. Reviews

Very secluded. Noone in the property next to us so very quiet. Difficulty driving up the lane if you met anyone from the next door property so it wasn't a problem for us. Just a horse and rider one day!!!!

Mrs Pamela R,

We love Appletree cottage and have stayed there many times, the views and seclusion are so relaxing, being able to walk out of the door to such a diversity of habitats, the sea the heath and the forest is wonderful. The cottage is so homely and comfortable.
