Description

This deceptively spacious former stables nestles in the landscaped grounds of the owners' stunning medieval farmhouse, with lovely views over the meadows towards Orlestone Forest, which is a haven for birds (the area is famous for nightingales).  It has been thoughtfully designed, incorporating many original beams and furnished to a high standard with the use of a summer house overlooking the pond, perfect for enjoying the countryside views and wildlife. The owners are developing wild flower meadows and were winners in the Kent Wildlife Trust Local Wildlife Sites award programme. There are many local walks along the quiet lanes and countryside including the nearby Gusbourne Estate where they produce award winning sparkling wine, so this lovely location provides a calm and peaceful escape from our busy world. It is also close to the Saxon Shore Way, perfect for keen walkers and nature lovers. It is within a short drive from the picturesque market town of Tenterden with its many shops, cafes and restaurants and no trip to Tenterden is complete without a trip on a steam train through the pretty Rother Valley to Bodiam Castle.  In the opposite direction you will find the Cinque Ports town of Rye and the seven miles of Golden sands at Camber.  Shop: 2 miles  Pub: 1.5 miles  Coast: 6.5 miles

Ground Floor:
Open Plan Living Area with wood burning stove, comfortable sofa and armchair, dining table with chairs - great views to the forest and TV/DVD, Satellite Wifi
Sleeping Area king size bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers
Kitchen Area has an electric oven/grill, electric hob, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment, washer/dryer and radio/CD player

Reviews

Lovely little cottage in quiet rural location. Log burner, views, very friendly welcome and hosts. Quiet walks around the lanes. Recommend the Ferry Inn nearby. We stayed at Christmas and would love to see the area in summer. 10 minutes from Ashford but in the middle of nowhere. Thank you for making our Christmas great!

Mr L,

This studio cottage is charming and ideally located for the many visitor attractions in this part of Kent. The hosts lived onsite and were extremely friendly and helpful. Can thoroughly recommend this holiday let.

Mr F,

Very warm welcome from owners. The Lodge was very well equipped and comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful. Very good local village pub. Good location for various places of interest

Mrs G,

The Lodge is a charming, comfortable property. In such beautiful, peaceful surroundings, but not far from many places to visit. The owners couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Their knowledge of the area outstanding. A real home from home, would definitely like to visit again.

Miss A,

A lovely spot but you must have a car. High quality fixtures and fittings, which I was terrified of damaging or staining. Internet was slow to intermittent. TV reception was poor. Hosts were delightful.

Mrs Rachel L,

Extremely happy with the price, clean and tidy, perfect setting for people to just unwind ( it reminded me of The Darling Budd’s of May ) everything was so lovely. The main shops ie Tesco and Waitrose are within fifteen minutes drive in opposite directions . The two hosts ( owners) were delightful and so knowledgeable about the area plants and animals, the cottage it’s self was well thought out for space and comfort great for couples or singles. A big thank you to the owners I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
