Mr W,

Location

This Llanwrtyd Wells accommodation is located about 1.5 miles from the small town of Llanwrtyd Wells which has several pubs, restaurants, and small shops. Llanwrtyd lies between the Brecon Breacons and the Elan Valley in a area of outstanding natural beauty and wilderness. The cottage is within a beautiful valley that has been classed a site of special scientific interest due to the diverse range of many rare birds, animals and plants. The cottage is mainly detached although is linked to another building via some old farm outbuildings. Nearby there is another cottage - Ffermdy Llanwrtyd and these can be booked together.

Right in the heart of Wales, this Llanwrtyd Wells accommodation is the perfect location for exploring the Brecon Beacons, Cambrian Mountains and the hills, valleys and forests that are the great outdoors of Mid Wales, as well as the nearby towns of Builth Wells, Llandovery and Brecon. In Victorian times, Llanwrtyd Wells was a fashionable spa town and many of its hotels date back to that time.

The area around Llanwrtyd Wells is full of natural beauty and breathtaking scenery, making it an ideal centre for walking, mountain biking, bird watching and touring. As you drive through Mid Wales it is often possible to spot a red kite, one of Britain’s rarest birds. There are plenty of options for walking and hiking nearby in the Irfon Forest and around the Llyn Brianne Reservoir, an artificial lake which was created in the 70′s when the River Towy was dammed. At times of low rainfall, it is sometimes possible to see the roofs of the houses which had to be flooded in order for the dam to go ahead.

There is a lot going on in Llanwrtyd Wells throughout the year, so if you are looking for something a little bit different, then this is the place to come. This Mid Wales town is the home of the Man versus Horse Marathons, the World Bog Snorkeling Championships and the Real Ale Ramble.

Walking

The 15 mile route around Llyn Brianne provides some of the most splendid views available in Wales. Leaping Stiles provides some excellent suggestions for walking in the area. There are also many local trail and hill walks from the cottage. 0.2 miles.
