Reviews

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Also for the VIP guided arrival to help us up the drive way in the rain and darkness. The roaring fire and thoughtful gifts soon had us feeling very welcomed and relaxed. Highlights of our holiday have been: the weather (yes, really!); a trip to Ynyslas nature reserve; a walk up Cadair Idris; a walk around the precipice; an adventure in Corris mine and a relaxed time at quarry pottery. A trip to river valley shooting ground. Not forgetting a walk around the farm, a visit to the cows and a visit to some waterfalls when it rained but best of all was the 100% help and attention from the owners. Amazing. Thanks so much

Past Customer,

Thank you for the lovely stay at Foel Fach. The roaring fire when we arrived was most appreciated, also the gifts for us and the children. We all slept like logs. Sitting outside and just looking at the amazing view, who would ask for anything more.

Gethin Family,

Thank you for such an awesome time. The spectacular views and warm cosy atmosphere always makes us feel so welcome. Every time we come to the cottage we have new experiences, always good. The pumpkin items are such a nice touch and just makes us feel like we are having Autumn in Wales. Thank you again for sharing this lovely place. It truly feels like coming home.

Past Customer,

Thank you so much for sharing this lovely piece of heaven. It is always a great time with great people. We have been all around the world and I always tell people that this is the most beautiful place on earth. Thank you again for a wonderful visit.

Past Customer,

A unique cottage in a wonderful scenic location. We really had a relaxing time. Very friendly hosts who plugged us in to what was going on in the local community.

Dr W,

Thank you for an amazing holiday, it was my first time in Wales. The views and the scenery were spectacular, and the house was beautiful too. We visited a few castles, went for a walk, but I think the highlight for me, was going to Llanbrynmair show. It was great to see the local people, the ponies, dogs, and especially all the different breeds of sheep. Who knew they could be so interesting!

Past Customer,

Thank you for a very successful holiday. Foel Fach is unique. We arrived in a deluge, but the place was so welcoming inside, and the weather quickly cleared to reveal the amazing and everchanging views. Thanks also for tipping us off about Llanbrynmair show on bank holiday Monday. That was a real treat. We ate at the Brigands Inn up the road afterwards, and that was an excellent meal too. We were able to go to Powis castle one day and enjoy the gardens, and the countryside coming back. We have all (18-80 years) enjoyed our stay. Facilities are super, baking is possible and a new mixer was supplied when we had difficulties.

Past Customer,

Thanks so much for letting us stay at Foel Fach. An entirely different world from our workday lives. An oasis of calm and beauty and a shift in perspective I hope until our return. We have many memories from the sheep and rabbits to the starry night sky and some quite unexpected and lovely Schibert in Machynlleth. We count ourselves privileged to have stayed here.

Past Customer,

The setting of the house was so beautiful, the website didn't show all the views, which were lovely. It was great to be able to relax in the various seating areas and look out over the amazing scenery. The driveway which was further up the hill from the owners house, meant it had privacy and no close neighbour. The owners were very helpful and were there if you needed them, but allowed you relax in the property. We enjoyed several days out, but the property was lovely and spacious so even with our teenagers it meant if you wanted to you could all stay in and relax without getting on top of each other. We had a fantastic time there!

Mr R,

Thank you for a wonderful stay at Foel Fach. It was the perfect place to spend time together as a family. The cottage was immaculate and the surroundings magnificent. The freshly picked mushrooms kindly delivered by the owner were delicious and a very thoughtful touch. We enjoyed sitting outside watching the wildlife. The circular walk around the cottage and the cosy evening in front of the log burner will be memories we all take with us. Thank you for a wonderful stay

Past Customer,

We would like to say a big thank you for our holiday which has been wonderful! Everything we needed was to hand. Awesome cottage. Lots of memories to savour.

Past Customer,

This is our second visit to Foel Fach. We do not normally return to a place we have stayed at before, but earlier this year we visited Tuscany and as soon as we arrived at our villa we both said that this reminded us of Wales and the beautiful Foel Fach with it's breath taking views. On returning home the very next day we booked a short break to Wales and Foel Fach. When we arrived just like our first visit we were not disappointed, the stunning views, peace and quiet and total relaxation. The old farmhouse was still as welcoming and homely as we remembered. It is so nice to return to this wonderful rural welsh retreat to enjoy space to breathe. Thank you to the hosts for not changing a thing. We look forward to returning again

Past Customer,

We first saw Foel Fach in the Sunday Times a few years back and since then we have wanted a chance to visit. Our first stay did not disappoint in any way and it will certainly not be our last. Your beautiful cottage is in unparalleled location with fantastic views. It really is so quiet here apart from the odd sheep call. It's the ideal place to recharge the batteries. The whole area is lovely too. It doesn't matter where you go, but Bodnant and Powys Castle were a highlight, along with the Ospreys and Kite feeding. Thank you so much for sharing your cottage with us. It really is much appreciated.

Past Customer,

Thank you for providing us with this much needed getaway in our lives. This is the best property I have ever seen. The work the owners put into this property is unfathomable. You were perfect hosts. We are leaving here with lots of extra love towards ourselves. Thanks for making our lives better.

Past Customer,

Hidden gem in the Welsh countryside. Thank you for sharing the story of Phyllis Miles too. Our time here has been very special.

Past Customer,

Thank you so much for letting us share your little piece of heaven. Foel Fach truly is a magical place. We loved everything about the cottage. A real home from home. A huge special thank you for all the time you spent with our girls. They loved every second with the lambs, feeding and being at the birth. It will be something they remember forever.

Past Customer,

Thank you for your beautiful cottage and the lovely views. We couldn't have asked for anything nicer, only wished we could've stayed longer. It is such a comfortable place and we were amazed at how you provided everything we needed to prepare our meals. We had such a relaxing, chilled few days, we'll be sad to leave, but hopeful we'll come back again soon. Diolch.

Previous Customer,

Thank you for a wonderful and relaxing holiday. The weather was most unexpected and helped seeing and visiting many wonderful places in this beautiful part of Wales. The children and us enjoyed the place very much. Foel Fach was lovely, clean and very cosy. It was well equipped. The views from the cottage were simply amazing and seeing the sheep added very much to our joy. We will have many wonderful memories and thank you for facilitating this for all of us

M&R and family,

Lovely cottage with lots of character, very friendly owners, great location. We really enjoyed our holidays. The views were stunning, the kitchen was well equipped, the fireplace was lovely, beds were very comfortable, the bedding was fresh and clean. If we were to give a comment what we would improve then we would say, it would be nice to have hot water in the evenings after long walks, not only in the morning, the lighting at the property could be better and it would be nice to have a smart TV for family movie nights. Overall, it was an amazing holiday.

Mrs Maria M,

My partner came to stay at Foel Fach three years ago, for a much needed break. When he returned from his trip he was profoundly moved by the landscape and the hospitality of the owners. After a few years we returned together and it did not disappoint. The beauty of the mountains, the kindness of the locals, and to the hosts who welcomed us with open hearted hospitality - a rare quality in this fast paced world. It's heartening to know there is a place here - Foel Fach - that remains tireless and loved and can be shared. We will be back.

Past Customer,

There are no words to describe the beauty of this area. The cottage is situated in the perfect location. The cottage is so beautiful and we had a wonderful time. We look forward to returning.

Past Customer,

A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. We feel fully rested and relaxed. The sun shone most days so we have been able to sit out on the terrace watching clouds and sheep go by. We look forward to coming back to Foel Fach at the end of each day. The owners are very welcoming

Kathy and I,

The cottage and location far exceeded our expectations. The owners were very helpful and welcoming.

Mrs Kathy W,

One of the best cottages we have ever rented! The hosts were very attentive and friendly - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Even when the weather was inclement the cottage was very cosy and the outlook stunning. Fantastic inventory too - the owners have thought of everything for this rental.

Mr Ian R,

Thank you for letting us stay at Foel Fach. It is absolutely amazing. We are so happy to have found it. The only downside is having to leave. As beautiful views go, yours is a winner. Thank you for the cakes and thank you for checking in on us. We really enjoyed talking to you and appreciate your insight on local walks. We never get bored of visiting Wales and Foel Fach has made us fall in love even more. We hope to see you all again soon.

Past Customer,

Well what a beautiful place. On arrival the cottage was so welcoming and comfortable and best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. We have had a lovely relaxing and chilled week here and have enjoyed meeting the family. The story of Phyllis's life here made very interesting reading. Thank you for letting us in Foel Fach - love it.

Past Customer,

A beautiful cottage with stunning views. We enjoyed watching the sheep roaming in the fields and quiet evenings spent listening to the owls. Certainly the prettiest views in our longish lives (age 74 & 79) that myself and husband have enjoyed. All cottage facilities were all thought out and delightfully quirky. Pure delight. Many Thanks William & Harriet ( Rural Somerset)

Mrs Harriett W
