Approach.

• From LAMPETER take the A482 towards Aberaeron for 6 miles. At the village of Felin-fach, turn left onto the B4342 towards Llanarth, and travel on this road for 4.5 miles to the village of Mydroilyn. Take the first road on the left near the chapel signposted Gorsgoch/Cribyn. After approx. 50 yards, turn right near the school. Continue on this road for 1 mile and the Cottage will be on your right.

 • From ABERYSTWYTH take the A487 southwards towards Cardigan and travel for 19 miles to the village of Llwyncelyn. Continue along the A487 for another ½ mile, and turn left at the crossroads onto the B4342 signposted Mydroilyn. Continue along this road for 3 miles to the village of Mydroilyn. Pass the Gilfach Inn on your right and proceed past the church (also on your right). Drive over the bridge and turn right near the chapel (signposted Gorsgoch/Cribyn). After approx. 50 yards, turn right near the school. Continue on this road for 1 mile and the Cottage will be on your right.

 • From CARDIGAN take the A487 northwards towards Aberaeron and travel to the village of Llanarth. After leaving Llanarth, turn right at the crossroads onto the B4342 signposted Mydroilyn. Continue along this road for 3 miles to the village of Mydroilyn. Pass the Gilfach Inn on your right and proceed past the church (also on your right). Drive over the bridge and turn right near the chapel (signposted Gorsgoch/Cribyn). After approx. 50 yards, turn right near the school. Continue on this road for 1 mile and the Cottage will be on your right.

 Which ever route you take, drive down the lane and prepare yourselves for a warm welcome.

 • Access to farm is via a tarmac drive with a cattle grid entrance therfore there are no gates to open.

• Car parking is available next to cottages with ample space to unload on a level gravel area.

• Level concrete pathway around the perimeter of both cottages with a small ramp from the games room to the front lawn area of the cottages. Both cottages have no steps to enter from the front door, but the back entrance is via one small step.

• Patio areas and lawn area all on level ground with beautiful views of the wooded valley and lake side.

• Main entrance doors are 800 mm wide and all internal doors are 775mm wide.

• Level and spacious kitchen and living area. Kitchen and bathroom with tiled flooring whilst living room has laminate flooring with plenty of access space in the open plan design. Bedrooms are carpeted.

• The kitchen units, oven, fridge and dishwasher are of a standard height below worktop space. Microwave and toaster on top of the worktop .Sink area of standard height.

• Both cottages have low level light switches, with ample natural lighting and Fire, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Outdoor sensor lights all around cottages.

• Remote T.V.controls.

• Double bedroom with bedside cabinets and above bed reading lights with pull cord switch. Bed accessible from both sides.

• Twin bedroom with full size single beds, with shared bedside cabinet and reading lamp, moderate space.

• The ‘Onnen’ has a walk in shower on a non slip surface with pull down seat and hand rail. There is also a hand rail by the toilet .Adequate transfer space.

• Y ‘Dderwen’ has a shower accessed by a small step without special aids as above.

• Games and utility room on level tiled area accessed via ramp from front area of cottages or from two small steps from the rear of the cottages.

• The owners live on site and are available to assist whenever possible.

• We hope to make a holiday for the less mobile visitor a happy and hassle free experience.

 

Description

Perfect for family holidays in West Wales – this family holiday cottage near New Quay is set on a working farm with a shared hot-tub, fishing lake, outdoor play area and indoor games room. The cottage enjoys a peaceful and tranquil rural location, just 7 miles from the sandy beaches of beautiful Cardigan Bay. A great place to relax and unwind in unspoilt countryside.

Ground Floor

Yr Onwydden cottage has a kitchen/dining area and living area (open plan). The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, electric oven/hob/grill, fridge with a small freezer, kettle, toaster and all the utensils and crockery which you may need during your stay.

Heated by central heating, the lounge area also features an oil-fired log burner to create a cosy and inviting atmosphere, along with two sofas, SMART TV. Double sofa bed in the living area if needed.

Bedroom 1 - double bedroom -  hanging spaces and storage. Welsh tapestry throws on the beds and crisp white cotton bedlinen.

The bathroom consists of a shower, W.C. and washbasin, heated towel rail  and is also fitted with accessories to make life easier for disabled guests.

All rooms are on the ground floor and are therefore ideal for less mobile visitors.

A shared laundry room is provided for your use with a washer/dryer, large freezer and sink area. A drying area for your boots and coats as well as secure storage for your bicycles are also available. This room also serves as a games room with a darts board, table football, a pool table and table tennis facilities and books which you are welcome to borrow during your stay. It is also suitable as a shared meeting/communal room for ramblers or cyclists to discuss their holiday plans.

Garden

Yr Onwydden family holiday cottage has a patio area including barbecue and seating. The extended garden (i.e. the field) includes a full sized play area (swings, slide, trampoline etc) and a separate lake where you can fish for trout. There is also a hot-tub (shared with 3 camping pods) where you can enjoy views over the lake and the surrounding countryside. A great base for small family holidays with plenty to do on site and in the surrounding area.

There is another sleeps 4 cottage on site Deri'r Cwm, which can be booked separately. Perfect for two families or group of friends.

Additional Information

A special selection of home-made Welsh delicacies will be available at the cottage on your arrival. This is part of the warm Welsh welcome offered by the owners - a young and traditional Welsh-speaking family.

All bed linen and towels will be provided.

Beautiful place, thoroughly enjoyed all the facilities. Lovely fresh meals locally. Had an enjoyable walk in Devils Bridge and amazing scenery on the way. National Trust site at Llanerchaeron. Moody Cow was another great find for food and Moody Calf next door had a soft play facility, Hot tub, games room and the amazing starry nights were a hit.

Yr Onwydden family holiday cottage, West Wales is set on a working farm near Mydroilyn village (shop and pub), in gorgeous countryside. Mydroilyn is located half way between New Quay (7 miles west, on the coast) and Lampeter (12 miles east) and offers endless activities for small family holidays in West Wales. Located on the farm itself is a fishing lake (part and parcel of your holiday), a hot-tub overlooking the lake (shared with the holiday cottage next door) an open air play area for children and a games room.

Nearby, the bustling and picturesque fishing town of New Quay offers excellent walking, fishing, sandy beaches, mouth-watering restaurants and much more. If you're looking for activity holidays in West Wales or a tranquil location to get away from it all, then this is the place for you. New Quay has a lovely sandy beach and bottle nosed dolphins, porpoise and seals which reside in Cardigan Bay can be frequently seen from the harbour wall.

Cardigan Bay, which is dotted with pretty little resorts and stretches of spectacular Heritage Coastland, is home to bottlenose dolphins, porpoises and seals. The Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron lies 8 miles to the North. This architectural gem is full of interest. There's a Sea Aquarium, the famous Harbourmaster Restaurant and the National Trust's Llanerchaeron estate. Travel inland from Aberaeron to the Teifi Valley. A favourite with visitors is Cenarth Falls, a famous beauty spot. From Aberystwyth travel on the narrow-gauge Vale of Rheidol Railway and experience the waterfalls at Devil's Bridge or visit the ruins at Strata Florida Abbey, near Pontrhydfendigaid in the Cambrian Mountains. Central for touring Wales and ideal for pursuits such as angling, sailing, birdwatching, cycling and walking.

Beaches

New Quay Beach is expansive, sandy and well protected from the breeze. This blue flag beach (Harbour Beach) is very popular during the summer months. 7.5 miles

Cei Bach is a lovely beach, much quieter than New Quay beach. 6.1 miles

Water Sports

You can choose from dinghy sailing, yacht cruising, power boating, windsurfing and kayaking with both short sessions and longer courses suitable for all levels and abilities. Cardigan Bay Watersports 7.5 miles

Tresaith is set in a small sheltered sandy bay named after the River Saith which cascades as a waterfall over the cliffs to the beach. The beach has a slipway and is a popular sailing destination. An excellent beach for watersports - wide and sandy. Limited parking. 16.4 miles

Walking

The Ceredigion Coast Path links together a treasury of environmental, natural and heritage assets within one of the most scenic coastal areas of Wales: 7.5 miles

There is superb sea fishing all around the New Quay area, the harbour wall remains a popular venue for children. The area is also renowned as a UK bass hotspot. Boats available from the New Quay harbour, bookings taken on the quay. 7.5 miles

Coarse fishing -many lakes and river including Llanarth Coarse Fishery. 5.4 miles

Game fishing – River Teifi is one of the UK’s most famous Salmon rivers.

Cycling

Many trails and quiet local roads in the area making superb cycling. Lôn Teifi runs between Aberystwyth and Fishguard, part of National Route 82 of the National Cycle Network. The 98 mile (158km) cycle route follows country lanes and minor roads along the valley of the River Teifi, through the rural towns of Tregaron, Lampeter, Newcastle Emlyn and Cardigan before reaching Fishguard on the West Wales coast. 14 miles
