Briston is a large village located within North Norfolk just four miles inland from the Georgian town of Holt. There is a pub, two shops, a bakery and a butchers. It’s a great location from which to explore all North Norfolk has to offer. Holt has a lovely range of local shops, a small independent supermarket together with plenty of tea rooms or restaurants offering locally sourced produce. Catch a steam or diesel train along the Poppyline, a coastal track which visits Weybourne and Sheringham. Many of the most wonderful beaches are within a short drive of Roe Deer Barn, go to Wells-next the-Sea and walk along the Quay or visit the vast sandy beach. The popular seaside towns of Sheringham and Cromer make for a great day out for all the family, each having a golf course too! Salthouse and Cley-next-the-Sea are great bird watching locations, you will be spoilt for choice with so many places to discover.

Reviews

February 2024 we were looking for a weekend away for my girlfriends birthday, 9 of us going (inc 2 children and baby). Roe Deer Barn looked really nice, ticked all our boxes and as it's dog friendly we brought him along too. Plenty of communication from the website we booked it through before we arrived and also the owners Tim and Rachel who were kind enough to allow us to check in 2hrs early. As I didn't know the area Rachel and Tim were able to help me in getting some bits sorted for Birthday celebrations, I needed helium balloons and a nice place to eat, The Hunworth Bell was recommended and it was just lovely. When we arrived the house was spotless and nice & warm. On the kitchen worktop was a basket with some nibbles, tea, coffee and sugar. Next to that to our suprise was a cake tin with a beautiful freshly baked Victoria sponge inside. In the fridge was a bottle of milk and also a bottle of bubbles. All of that was a lovely suprise, the difficulty now, deciding whether to have tea & cake or bubbles after our drive. Lol. We explored the barn and we literally had everything we needed, slippers were even provided which was another nice touch. We decided to stay in the annex bedroom as we have a new born that still gets up during the night for a feed and likes to let people know he's awake too. Tea and coffee making facilities were also provided in the annex. There is underfloor heating throughout which is so nice underfoot, also provided was wood for the wood burner. Tim and Rachel popped by after we arrived to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed. There was plenty of room to cook for 9 people, we had Fajitas Friday night and the hot plate was great for keeping the food warm. The games room is really good and well equipped to keep kids entertained if the weather isn't great. There are also board games, cards and plenty of DVDs if you fancy watching a film in fromt of the fire. We had a day out to the Roarr Dinosaur Park in Lenwade which was good. For us there were only 2 things we felt could be improved, 1) very little, if any, wifi signal in the annex bedroom. 2) a baby / travel cot is not provided. That said it wasnt the end of the world and do not let those 2 things put you off going, we all had such an amazing time and wouldn't hesitate to return to Roe Deer Barn. Thank you Tim and Rachel for a lovely stay.

Mr W,

We had a lovely time here with all the family. Its a great property for families as all bedrooms are equally as good and private as each other. The Barn was spacious and beautifully decorated. The equipment in the kitchen was fantastic, everything you could think of and the WIFI very reliable. It was nice and warm and cosy for a winters break. We loved the finishing touches such as slippers and wine etc on arrival and the cake was one of the best we had tasted, that was the first to go. Having the annex for us was just perfect with a new born baby . The new little family could have their own space without worrying about waking anyone else up. The games room and outdoor facilities would be great in the summer and spring. We had a issue with the fridge but the owners came out immediately to sort, they were really nice and available for anything you needed. We would definitely return and have already recommend to others.

Mr H,

Fantastic property, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Ideal for larger groups as all rooms ensuite.

Mrs F,

We had an amazing time at Roe Deer Farm - The set up was perfect for us - each with our own rooms with ensuites but with a lovely warm, welcoming and perfectly sized living area - perfect for our family Christmas. The owners could not have been more helpful with any queries that we had and they made sure that we had everything that we needed. The view over the lake with the ducks was so lovely. The beds are really comfortable and the cleanliness was excellent. The barn was beautifully decorated for Christmas as well. The location is great too - we managed a few trips out to Blakeney, Cromer and Holt. Thank you so much.

Mrs T,

Mrs H,

Roe Deer Barn was well appointed, comfortable, cosy, clean and stylish. We had an excellent three nights there and are very much looking forward to booking it again next year. Fabulous.

Mrs R,

Wonderful property with wonderful hosts. Couldn't ask for better

Mrs B,

Beautiful property that is very comfortable and spacious. Very good location for exploring North Norfolk

Mr R,

This property has everything for adults and children alike. Beautiful safe quiet surroundings with the benefit of a pond (kids mesmerised by the ducks and the heron), games room, playground. Total privacy and great comfort. High standards of the bathrooms and the beds are amazingly comfortable. We had a great time and the hosts were so helpful and friendly.

Mrs M,

Amazing property, lovely host who made herself known if we needed anything (off course we didn't as everything we needed we had) Very clean, spacious and the finishing touches were wonderful. Milk, coffee, sugar, tea available when we arrived. Also a lovely surprise of a very delicious home made cake from Granny. Thank you xx Location was perfect and fortunately for us we had plenty of long walks in the sunshine at Cromer and Blakeney which where only 20 minutes down the road. All in all a wonderful place to bring family together and have a wonderful time. Thank you x

Mrs Angela B,

Roe Deer Barn is a wonderful place for families to get together. The layout has been thought through meaning whilst the family are all together they can still be in separate areas doing their own thing. Our stay was absolutely wonderful with lots of space for everyone.

Mrs M,

We had a lovely stay, the barn is well equipped, comfortable and lovely and warm with the wood burner. Comfy beds, lovely surroundings and we had a very pleasant walk around the surrounding countryside. Would highly recommend, at least one of our party is looking to return.

Mrs Sayle S,

The property had everything we needed and more. It was clean, spacious and really well thought out. The welcome pack was generous with it’s contents and very much appreciated! We all really enjoyed our stay so thank you x
