Wells-next-the-Sea is a lively coastal town on the North Norfolk coast. With its fine, sandy beach, iconic beach huts and bordered by pine woodlands, it offers a playground for young and old alike, there is even a small gauge railway that will take you down to the beach if you don't fancy the stroll. At the harbour you can see the small fishing fleet unload its daily catch and the quayside is also popular with children, fishing for crabs. There is an eclectic variety of boutique shops, cafes, pubs and tea rooms to browse, with not a chain store in sight and The Buttlands is a lovely part of the town with a tree lined green, fine Georgian houses, pub and restaurant. Fishing trips, sailing, tennis, a swimming pool and fitness centre and the Wells to Walsingham light railway are all within easy reach and for something totally unique, why not take an Alpaca for a walk across the marshes! Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with the North Norfolk Coastal path running directly through the town you may not wish to wander far but other delights near to hand include Holkham Hall, Burnham Market and its sister villages, Brancaster, Cley-next-the-Sea and Stiffkey to name just a few..

Reviews

Beautiful cottage in a fantastic spot, with a gorgeous garden and great facilities.

Ms F,

Loved the property and beautiful garden. High standard and within easy walk to the shops and sea. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Ms L,

The house was beautiful and for the most part very well equipped. There were however a few issues that may need to be taken into account for future. Firstly the chest of drawers in the twin room and one of the double rooms were quite dangerous as they were wobbly and not attached. On our first day my 4 year old went to open one of the drawers and it fell forward. Fortunately I was there to catch it so she wasn’t hurt. Secondly, my mother has some mobility issues and there are quite a few uneven floors and small steps around the property. Obviously this can’t be helped but it might be worth mentioning on the advert for the property so that people can consider this. Overall we had a lovely stay but I do think these issues need to be addressed in the future.

Mrs Katie C,

Loved the situation and garden was delightful to sit in. House was as described, we four friends were very comfortable for our week's stay in Wells.

Mrs Jennifer T,

A well-appointed, warm and welcoming cottage providing easy access to the town centre + quay and nearby places of interest. The owner dealt promptly with our request for additional towels. My only niggle is that, imho, the mattress on the second double bed is past its best. I gave up after one night and moved downstairs to sleep on the daybed in the snug which solved the problem.
