Kelling is a small village in a great location set along the coast road that skirts the top of the county and lies between Sheringham and Salthouse. Its reputation as a smuggling haven is no longer but the area has been one of military and historical importance in the past. The village reading rooms have now been turned into a small book shop, art gallery and tea room and the area, surrounded as it is by both Kelling Heath and Muckleburgh Hill, within the Norfolk Coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is great for walkers, birdwatchers and with the lack of light pollution, star gazers too! The Norfolk Wildlife Trusts' visitor centre at Cley-next-the-Sea is just a short drive along the coast and the marshes along this stretch of the coast attract year round attention for its flora, fauna and wildlife. To the east the charming Victorian seaside town of Cromer with its famous Pier is a lively spot to enjoy a day out and the cliff top walks, golf course and climb up the church tower will keep everyone active!  With the attractive Georgian town of Holt close by, the historic houses of Felbrigg and Blickling just a short drive away and the local Coasthopper Bus Service that will take you right along the coast to Hunstanton in the west, you are ensured of a very enjoyable stay in this part of Norfolk.

Reviews

Our second visit to this property. A neat house, comfortable, well equipped and very clean. You can walk on footpaths from there up to Kelling Heath, or stroll across the road, down through the woods to the coastal path and thence to Sheringham or Cley and Blakeney, catching the coastal hopper back. A brilliant base for birdwatching. Seven days just doesn't feel long enough

Mrs T,

Very chilled vibe & gorgeous birds in garden.
