Description

Goldsmith's Cottage is a hidden gem, a delightful end of terrace cottage built in 1891, which, in times past, was home to the local mill owner, set as it is close to the source of the River Bure and the mill itself, which can still be seen in the village. As you walk in the front door you are welcomed into an inviting living and dining space, which leads into a well equipped kitchen and two comfortable bedrooms on the first floor that are accessed via a steep, traditional Norfolk winder staircase, typical of the period. There is a small suntrap courtyard for relaxing morning breakfasts or an end of the day drink and the cottage is moments from the pub, a good village shop and a delightful art gallery, showcasing local artisans' work. Set in the attractive Bure Valley, the village's location ensures it is just a short stepping stone to the stunning coastline to the north, The Broads to the east or the cultural delights of Norwich to the south, making a stay at Goldsmith's Cottage the perfect spot from which to explore the county. Corpusty and its sister village Saxthorpe are linked by the River Bure and are set in the delightful Bure Valley, an attractive area of north Norfolk with meandering country lanes great for walking or cycling in this peaceful part of the county. The elegant Georgian town of Holt is just 7 miles away and a must-go-to for its cafe culture, individual boutique shopping, art and antique galleries and some great independent food shops showcasing the best of Norfolk produce. Nearby seek out Blicking Hall or Felbrigg Hall, both run by the National Trust they are great historic houses with extensive grounds; in the late spring the bluebells in the Great Wood at Blickling are a sight to behold. On the north coast you will find idyllic coastal villages, salt marshes and nature reserves, whilst there don't forget to visit Holkham Hall with its deer park and fascinating history, it also has a fabulous sandy beach with a backdrop of pinewoods, where you can walk for miles. Steam buffs should take a trip to nearby Aylsham to catch a ride on the Bure Valley Steam Railway, which will take you to the heart of The Broads National Park at Wroxham and if you are a culture vulture then you can be in Norwich in half an hour to visit the Cathedral, the Castle, the ancient quarter of Elm Hill and seek out some truly international dining experiences.

Reviews

A very comfortable , clean and well equipped cottage. The stairs is not awkward after a few ups and downs . Location gives you the choice of many country lane walks - ideal for dogs- or the short journey to the coast. Easy parking outside the cottage made unloading and loading very easy. As regards finding the cottage on arrival - our sat nav took us right there- just remember its the first cottage after the pub. Must say we heard no noise from this pub - a lovely quiet location . The village has a well stocked shop /post office about 150yds away. The back “garden” is a sun trap. The welcome pack , included bread ,milk ,crisps, cake and preserves was a nice touch.

Mr R,

Excellent cottage, well equipped, great location, only proviso I think a warning should be given about the spiral staircase fo anyone who maybe not be so agile.

Mr Peter M,
