Burnham Deepdale is a small village on the north Norfolk coast road that lies next to the village of Brancaster Staithe, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Well known as an iconic area for its beaches and wildlife, both villages are a great draw for the sailing and fishing community, walkers, birdwatchers and cyclists. The beach at Brancaster is superb for land or water-based kite surfing, kayaking, wind surfing or just walking the dog, venture to Scolt Head Island, accessible via the seasonal ferry or walk the Norfolk Coast Footpath, which is right on the doorstep and runs for miles in either direction. Discover RSPB Titchwell and in the winter see the spectacle of the pink-footed geese bird migrations that are attracted to this coastline. There is local hospitality in abundance with some well-renowned pub/restaurants along this stretch of the coast where you can taste the morning catch or seek out the locally harvested mussels and oysters in season, that are landed at the harbour in Brancaster Staithe. The local shopping at Dalegate Market in Burnham Deepdale is a small enclave of independent shops with a cafe where you can also hire bicycles. If you don't want to get in the car and drive, the Coasthopper bus service will take you to along the coast road to some charming coastal villages and towns from Hunstanton in the west to Cromer in the east. Come inland and discover Burnham Market, a delightful and well-heeled Georgian village set around the green with some lovely shopping, or escape to nearby Barrow Common for some great views over the coastal marshes to the sea. Once you have discovered this area you will be back time and again, there is too much to discover in just one visit and the magic of this part of the coast is totally infectious!
