Description

Enjoy luxurious group and family seaside breaks at this unique, four-storey house right on the water’s edge. Get to know this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in South East Cornwall from the comfort of this home-from-home, thanks to the estuary views from living areas. When you do venture out, explore picturesque Readymoney Cove beach (0.5 miles away) and Fowey’s boat-filled harbour (less than half a mile away) with plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Kick off your trip with dinner-for-all cooked in the ceramic-tiled kitchen. Tuck in at the wooden, eight-seater dining table with wall-wide, sliding glass doors (leading to the terrace) that boast impressive views of the river, harbour, and sea. Watch the Cornish coast light up as the sun goes down, accompanied by your playlist thanks to the docking station. The ground floor utility room features a washing machine, tumble dryer, and the cloakroom has a WC and wetsuit hanging facility - handy following beach days. More spectacular views await in the first-floor lounge: gather in the windows-surrounded seating area featuring cushion-covered bucket chairs and a coffee table for your drinks. Nights in are best on the many sofas surrounding the wood burner (small basket of logs provided to get you started October - March), and TV. Welcome quirky decor, from standing lamps to vibrant wall posters. The separate study also boasts a TV for quieter viewings. On the second floor, the double bedroom features an en-suite shower room; while the king-size bedroom, also boasting an en-suite shower room, offers harbour and river views. The separate bathroom has a shower over the bath. Two twin bedrooms featuring vaulted ceilings, one with a harbour and river-view, are on the top floor, along with a WC. All levels are reached via a spiral staircase.

Soak up some sun on the outdoor patio terrace, accessed from the kitchen-dining area, where a BBQ and wooden table and chairs make it easy to indulge in al fresco fun with spectacular, uninterrupted views of the harbour and river across to Polruan.

Reviews

Great cottage in great location. We have returned 3 years running. Fine for 4 couples - great first floor en suite rooms but smaller childs' beds and no en suites on the top floor. Some cleaning and maintenance issues after our last visit in 2023 but none too serious.

Mr I,

Fabulous location looking over the water to Polruin and perfect for a Xmas stay, with pubs, hotel bars and restaurants all within a short stroll.

Mr J,

A wonderful property in a fabulous location with everything you could want. We loved the location for watching all the regatta racing and for the carnival processions past the door, not to mention the fireworks!

Mrs P,

A fantastic house in a fantastic location.

Mr S,

Excellent property with amazing views over the estuary, second visit to this property and highly likely to book again next year.

Ms C,

Location

If you haven't yet discovered Fowey, you've got a treat in store.  Full of multicoloured cottages, perched on the hillsides leading down to the sea, this little fishing town has lots to tempt visitors.

There is an entrancing collection of unique local shops and boutiques, along with harbourside cafes, pubs which will give you a hearty welcome and a good atmosphere, and restaurants offering tempting local produce.  If you want a unique insight into the local species in these waters, you could visit Fowey Aquarium, whose residents include specimens brought in by local fishermen.

If you're a fan of Daphne du Maurier, you may want to visit the Literary Centre, which gives information and exhibits about the author and her life and work.  There is also the Fowey Festival of Words and Music, held in May, in which du Maurier, and many other authors, artists and musicians, are celebrated.  Another great spectacle is the Fowey Royal Regatta, held in August.

Fowey lies within one of the many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Cornwall, and the backdrop of the surrounding countryside, with its tidal creeks, rolling fields and rugged cliffs, will make you want to return here again and again.
