If you thought all Suffolk cottages were all olde world timber affairs painted in pastel colours then think again. From seaside apartments and secluded escapes to big family houses and beach cabins – there are some ultra-cool properties to be found in the county. Here are ten of the best:

Osprey - Southwold

A delightful, one-bed apartment furnished to a high standard, Osprey is in a great location to easily reach all of Southwold’s many attractions.  It’s near the lighthouse, the award-winning Swan Hotel and the Adnams brewery, as well as the market place and its excellent range of small shops. Don't forget the beach is on your doorstep.

Flixton View - Oulton

Just the place to bring a large group of family or friends together, Flixton View is a modern townhouse that sleeps ten. The living areas are open plan and there is a games room containing a pool table and arcade machine. The location is equally impressive; Oulton is near Lowestoft, the Suffolk gateway to the Norfolk Broads, with theme parks, sandy beaches and Southwold all within easy reach.

The Old Exchange - Aldeburgh

Formerly the town‘s old phone exchange, this beautiful two-bedroom apartment in Monarch House is located just off Aldeburgh High Street with its many attractive buildings and independent shops. Decorated to a high standard and with period features, The Old Exchange is only a stone’s throw from the beach.

Postmasters - Southwold

A spacious Edwardian property, Postmasters sleeps four and is located in central Southwold.  You can enjoy some wonderful views from the two balconies at this wonderful first-floor apartment, and the modern comfortable rooms in which to enjoy your stay in this Suffolk coastal town. Shops, pubs, restaurants and the beach are only a short walk away.

Lake Farm Barn - Holbrook, The Shotley Peninsula

A wonderful barn conversion, Lake Farm Barn sleeps six and has a spacious open plan living area ideal for a group or family.  The property is set in a rural landscape with a lake nearby and is only a short walk from the busy village of Holbrook, which is in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – a great place for walking, cycling and bird watching.

2 The Courtyard - Snape, near Aldeburgh

Sleeping up to four people, 2 The Courtyard is a stylish first-floor apartment, tastefully decorated inside, while its roof terrace is just the place to enjoy an alfresco meal or drink.  The property is an ideal base for enjoying the Suffolk coast and countryside. The lovely seaside town of Aldeburgh is a 10 minute drive away while nearby Snape Maltings is renowned for its farmers’ market and internationally famous concert hall.

Park Farm House, Henham

Set in the grounds of Henham Park, the spacious Park Farm House has room for 15 people – the perfect property for bringing families and friends together on holiday. While affording seclusion and privacy, the house is also only a ten-minute drive from the popular seaside town of Southwold.

Cobblers – Eastbridge

Recently built in a traditional style, Cobblers has all the mod cons including a wood burner. The house is in the small village of Eastbridge, which is well off the beaten track and known as the back way into Minsmere – a favoured location of wildlife enthusiasts and ramblers. The exceptionally unspoilt countryside is one of Suffolk's best-kept secrets and to top things off the pub is only 50 yards away.

The Master’s House – Southwold

Formerly part of an old school complex, only good behaviour is allowed in the three-bedroom Master's House! With views of Southwold golf course and the Common, this gem of a property has been stylishly furnished and is a great place to stay whilst on holiday in Suffolk. All the attractions of Southwold are on your doorstep while a south facing garden provides privacy when required.

The View – Southwold

With a great vantage point looking across Southwold, The View is a beautifully furnished one-bedroom property, offering guests a very comfortable stay within yards of all the amenities the town has to offer. The inside of this third floor apartment is light and airy while outside there is a decked balcony to enjoy.
