From romantic getaways and hilltop retreats to farm cottages and coastal dwellings, there are some truly picture-perfect county cottages where you can have a holiday to remember. Here are ten properties to help you start planning:

Meadowside Barn - South Molton, North Devon

Perfect for holidays and breaks at any time of year, Meadowside Barn is a truly special hideaway that sleeps four. With exposed beams, large feature windows, spacious living areas and a wood-burning stove, this is a country cottage to die for especially as Exmoor National Park and the North Devon coastline are within easy reach.

Clover Cottage - Wadebridge, North Cornwall

Set on a working farm, guests at the picture-perfect Cornish Clover Cottage are guaranteed peace and beauty during their stay. With a herb garden, exposed beams and wonderful views from every window, a bonus of staying at this lovely property is the guided farm-feeding tours each morning for younger visitors as well as outdoor and indoor play areas.

Sonnet Cottage - Sandwich, Kent

This delightful rural cottage was once two farm workers’ dwellings and is now one spacious comfortable holiday home sleeping eight. Situated in the glorious Kentish countryside, Sonnet Cottage has an open fire in the living room and a dining room with French doors leading out to a large rear garden. The coastal town of Sandwich is four miles away while historic Canterbury is a twenty minute drive.

May Cottage - Monks Eleigh, Suffolk

Found in the heart of rural Suffolk, May Cottage is a charming country cottage for four in the beautiful village of Monks Eleigh. This is the countryside that inspired Constable, so get out and visit locations like nearby Lavenham – the finest preserved medieval village in the country.  But make sure you are back in time to enjoy the little secret seat at the end of the garden that catches the late afternoon sun.

Cressland - Kersey, Suffolk

Painted in stunning Suffolk Pink, Cressland is a gorgeous Grade II listed house that sleeps seven. With views up to the church, a spacious kitchen and an open fireplace in the living room, this is one of the most delightful country cottages.  If that wasn’t enough, it is located next to the ford in Kersey – widely regarded as Suffolk’s prettiest hamlet – and a handy setting for exploring the stunning countryside that surrounds it including the wool towns of Lavenham, Long Melford, Clare and Cavendish.

St Benets - Ludham, Norfolk Broads

A thatched country cottage situated in rural Norfolk, St Benets is a great place for you to get away from it all. Sleeping eight, this attractive property includes a large garden, open fireplaces, exposed beams and a light and airy kitchen area. When not enjoying the cottage you can explore the waterways of the Broads National Park or drive the short distance to the coast.

Merryweather Cottage - Mundesley, Norfolk Coast

This charming two-bedroom flint country cottage has been delightfully decorated throughout, giving it a light and airy yet traditional feel. Set in the coastal village of Mundesley, five minutes from shops and the beach, Merryweather Cottage is a wonderful property from which to enjoy all the delights of the Norfolk Coast. A secluded rear garden with barbecue provides private outdoor space.

Manor House - Ugglebarnby, Whitby, Yorkshire Coast

Full of character and charm, picture perfect Manor House combines a modern and airy décor with the traditional feel of a Yorkshire stone cottage. With an Aga in the kitchen, wood burner in the living room and French doors leading from the snug to the garden, the property is an ideal getaway for up to five people.  The cottage is located in the pretty village of Ugglebarnby and only three miles from the coast and the popular fishing town of Whitby.

Well Tree Cottage - Kings Meaburn, Cumbria and Lake District

Beautifully decorated with all the mod cons, Well Tree Cottage offers the best of both worlds – it has a secluded riverside setting but is also only a short walk to the village pub and shop. With beams and an open fire, this wonderful property sleeps up to six people who can take advantage of the excellent fishing and walking in the locality or head out to the Lake District and Scottish Borders – both of which are easily accessible.

Dugoed Isaf near Mallwyd, Snowdonia and Aberystwyth

Wonderful Dugoed Isaf is the country cottage you have always dreamt of. Situated on a hill farm in Snowdonia National Park, the property sleeps five and dates back over 250 years. It retains much of its rugged Welsh character but also offers you many home comforts - wood burners, WiFi and Sky TV to name a few. But guests often don’t need the television because they are too busy admiring the hillside views.
