Sun, sand and seaside are the three magic ingredients for a great summer holiday – and what could be better than staying at a property where all three are on your doorstep? Here is a selection of ten seaside cottages where you’ll love to spend your next summer holiday:

Ballard View is a sophisticated three-storey apartment with impressive sea views across Swanage Bay. The best place to enjoy the scenery is on the property’s wonderful roof terrace – just the place to unwind during your holiday in Dorset. Sleeping up to four people, the apartment has two bedrooms both with en-suite shower rooms, and a private gate leads to the shore.

A traditional terraced seaside cottage in the centre of the Cornish village of St Agnes, this delightful two-bed property sleeps up to four people. The spacious living room is heated by a multi-burner stove, while a kitchen/diner opens onto an enclosed courtyard – ideal for al fresco breakfasts in the sun.  Guests at Croft Cottage are within walking distance of the beach as well as pubs, shops and restaurants.

Sleeping four people, Blue Notes is a wonderful seaside cottage within walking distance of the sand dunes and wide expanse of Camber Sands beach in Sussex. Stylishly decorated throughout and with sun loungers on its front deck, it is a perfect place for a family seaside holiday. Its close vicinity to pubs and cafes is the icing on the cake.

Immaculately furnished throughout, 10 The Whinlands is a five-bedroom holiday house that would suit a large group of family or friends wanting to escape to the wonderful Suffolk coast for a relaxing break. Set in the centre of the popular village of Thorpeness, which itself is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 10 The Whinlands is only a few minutes’ walk from the beach.

Only two minutes’ walk from the beach, Dell Cottage in Norfolk is ideally positioned for a seaside holiday. This three-bed property sleeps up to five people and boasts a large conservatory and lovely walled garden, while all the amenities of Mundesley are on your doorstep – a wonderful wide beach and a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Set on a cliff with stunning sea views, Torcliffe is a wonderful coastal bungalow in Devon that sleeps up to six people. To get to the beach guests need only take a short walk downhill where they will also encounter the small resort of Combe Martin. The property is surrounded by gardens – just the place to relax and enjoy the views on a sunny day.

Facing the lighthouse and with striking views across to the sea, this spacious semi-detached Norfolk seaside cottage sleeps six and is a perfect choice for a beachside holiday. Guests at 7 Lighthouse Close are a short walk to the Victorian resort of Old Hunstanton with its promenade, Sea Life Centre and fun fair. The beach here is wide and expansive, and backed by impressive cliffs from which walkers can join the scenic Coastal Path.

As its name suggests, Seascape is a light and spacious seaside cottage that offers gorgeous sea views over Swanage Bay in Dorset. Accommodating up to six people, this fabulous property has a balcony which catches the sun all day and also has its own beach hut situated on a sandy beach, accessed by footpath.

One of those seaside cottages that can accommodate big groups, Hillside in Sandsend is a charming, large family house with wonderful sea views. With room for eight people, the house is spacious while the garden is mature and enclosed. One of North Yorkshire's most attractive coastal villages, Sandsend is only a couple of miles walk along the beach from the popular town of Whitby.

Guests at Stella Maris won’t know whether to stay at home and enjoy the magnificent views of the Pembrokeshire coast or to take the three minutes’ walk down to see the sand dunes and beach close up. This is a wonderful, spacious, seaside cottage with a large wood burner and two bedrooms. Active types will love it here with surfing, riding, fishing and golf all available within a stone’s throw.
