Are the kids looking for adventure during their stay? Do they scream with excitement at the mention of a theme park? Then here is just a select few to help you start their journey of thrills!

Pleasure Beach Blackpool, Lancashire

Amazingly this theme park has been open since 1896 and is still owned by the same family. On Ocean Boulevard, opposite the South Pier in Blackpool the park is easy accessible via road, rail or tram. The top attractions here are The Big One, a thrilling roller coaster ride or Infusion a roller coaster with a difference; it not only has five loops but suspends you over water as the floor vanishes below! For the younger ones there are family rides such as the Alice Ride where you can explore Alice’s Wonderland or why not try the old classic Ghost Train ride. Nickelodeon Land is also a must for all the family to discover.

Oakwood Theme Park, Narberth, Pembrokeshire, Wales

If you are staying in Wales you might like to put a day aside for a visit to this park.  A smaller park but it offers over 20 attractions for all the family including the Speed rollercoaster for the braver amongst you or discover the more sedate rides in Neverland. Not far from Narberth the park is easily accessible by car but it is not on a bus route so if you arrive by train you will need to arrange a taxi for the rest of the 5 mile journey to the park.

Crealy Adventure Park, Exeter, Devon

With over 60 rides and attractions you can see why this park is one of the most popular attractions in the South West. Not only do you have rides for all ages, including the pre-school, there are zoo animals to see and a pet’s corner. Situated east of Exeter in a village called Clyst St Mary the park is easily accessible by car and there is a bus service that goes to the park. The Vortex, a water coaster and King of the Swingers, a flying dutchman are just 2 of the most popular rides.

Crealy Adventure Park, Wadebridge, Cornwall

Situated between Newquay and Wadebridge the park is easily accessible by car and there is a bus service that goes to the park. A couple of the top attractions here are The Beast where you experience a 15ft drop and Raging Rivers a sensational waterslide ride so prepare to get wet!

There is also other entertainment for the little ones such as an indoor soft ball area and pet’s corner.

Flamingo Land, Malton, North Yorkshire

This park has everything to satisfy the family’s day out with over 30 rides, its own zoo, conservation area and daytime shows. You will find Flamingo Land between Malton and Pickering which is easily accessible by car; by bus the Yorkshire Coastliner service stops at the park and there is a train station at Malton, but it is about 8 miles away from the park so you would need to either get a taxi or enquire about buses. There are 8 extreme rides here including the Hero, the most recent addition to their coasters, a suspended side-by-side thrill or take a ride on the Mumbo Jumbo which boosts a place in the record books as the ‘world’s steepest roller coaster made from steel’. For the younger ones there are plenty of family rides such as the Balloon or Wagon Wheel ride and there are junior roundabouts, carousels and coasters.

Pleasurewood Hills, Lowestoft, Suffolk

There are over 30 rides and attractions here, including the sea lion show which is always popular and you can get to meet Woody Bear and his pals as they walk around the park. Situated between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft the park is not far off the A12 by car. The nearest train station is Lowestoft so you would need to check buses from the station to Pleasurewood Hills or hire a taxi.  If you are travelling by bus there are some that do stop at the park. One of the top thrill rides here is Wipeout a roller coaster which takes you backwards too! Another all-time favourite is the Pirate Ship and just so the younger ones don’t miss out there is also a mini Pirate Ship.

There are height restrictions and seasonal opening times for all of these parks so please be sure to check this detail before your journey to avoid disappointment.
