We’ve teamed up with outdoor specialists Regatta to offer you the chance to win a cottage holiday for two in the heart of the Welsh countryside.
From the snow-covered peaks of Snowdonia to the beaches of the Pembrokeshire Coast, via the woodlands, valleys and waterfalls that are found across the country, Wales is the perfect place for any lover of the outdoors. But if you don’t think that’s you – we challenge you not to be converted by this place.
Garden Flat is on farmland, surrounded by the hills and valleys of central Wales. The recently restored farmhouse annexe,
-plan area comprised of a kitchen and living room, with the double bedroom leadings onto an en suite shower room. Full-length French doors let you make the most of the daylight and lead out onto a patio. Here you can enjoy long summer evenings and enjoy breathtaking views – Garden Flat is around 1,400ft above sea level with unbelievable views stretching over the surrounding hills and valleys.
Getting out and about is easy, choosing where to go might not be. You have two National Parks close by with Garden Flat only 25 miles away from both Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons, but if you don’t want to travel that far then there is plenty to explore on your doorstep. Glyndwr's Way passes close by, a 135 mile trail which take
s you through some of the most scenic locations in the region. To the west is the Elan Valley, sometimes known as the Welsh Lake District thanks to the number of reservoirs and beautiful scenery that can be found on this site which covers 70 square miles. This is one of the most important places in Wales for wildlife and 80% is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. You can walk through the area or take to two wheels and follow the Elan Valley Cycle Trail.
More wildlife can be seen at Rhayader Kite Feeding Centre where dozens, and sometimes hundreds, of the raptors compete with crows, buzzards and ravens for the pieces of meat on offer.
But the beauty of this cottage lies in its isolation. Away from the noise of major roads and towns all you’re left with is the sounds of nature, and the lack of light pollution means you’ll be able to see the night sky clearer than ever before. Garden Flat is a place to remind you of why the outdoors is so great.
