Gorge Walking in Snowdonia

Also known as canyoning, gorge walking involves making your way through mountain gorges, climbing up watery torrents, jumping into rock pools, sliding down slippery rocks and swimming under waterfalls. It’s watery fun in a wetsuit while travelling through beautiful scenery. Outdoor specialists Proadventure offer day-long courses in gorge walking in Snowdonia run by trained supervisors who guide participants through parts of the National Park few visitors get to see. The Lake District is also a top area to give gorge walking a go.

Monster trucks in Sussex

Petrol heads with big ideas have the opportunity to drive a monster truck as part of their holiday in Sussex. Monster Truck Driving in East Grinstead offers a range of activities aboard their gigantic American monster truck called Grizzly, which boasts a frightening 7.5L engine and six foot tall tyres. Just climbing onto the beast is an achievement, let alone driving it through a muddy course, specially designed to give you the full monster truck experience. If you are feeling particularly brave there is the option of driving across and crushing two marked police cars – not something you get to do every day.

Paragliding in the Lake District

If you fancy a lift then paragliding over the beautiful Lake District might be the way to go.  Run by highly-experienced instructors, Air Ventures offers courses for people keen to try this exhilarating sport in one of the top paragliding areas in the country. For those reluctant to go it alone the company also offers tandem tasters, where you will fly alongside experts to take in an experience that will make your visit to the Lakes one you won’t forget.

Zorbing in Devon

Adrenaline junkies who want to turn their world upside down might enjoy having a go at zorbing. Zorbing.com offers the exhilarating experience of travelling through the north Devon countryside secured in a giant rubber ball at speeds of up to 35 kph. Squeal with delight as you fly down a 170 metre long hill and see the sky and grass blur into one. At the same site – 15 minutes from Barnstaple – visitors can also turn their hand to quad biking and clay pigeon shooting. There are also opportunities to travel by zorb in Suffolk and west Wales.

Adrenalin Quarry - Cornwall

In south east Cornwall not far from Looe, is Adrenalin Quarry - a place not for the faint-hearted. At the flooded quarry, daredevils can speed 50 metres across the water on a huge zip-wire or defy gravity on a giant swing set 150ft up on the cliff edge. There are also a host of other thrilling activities such as coastering -– a catch-all term for climbing rock faces before jumping into the water below, which youngsters over ten years old are allowed to try.
